AIBU?

I've just been to the gym and someone used 'my' locker (light hearted)

Since joining the gym 2 months ago, every time I have been I have used the same locker, number 91 to be exact. But today when I got there its key was gone and somebody was using it Shock
Aibu to feel sad 'my' locker was gone. 91 felt familiar and number 92 just wasn't the same.
I also don't like it when I can't park in my favourite space Grin anyone else secretly own public objects? Tell me it's not just me lol.

wow, I use the local gym a lot and never realised people were that bothered by lockers and spaces on the floor. Chairs in your own house I can understand. It sounds as though some of these gyms aren't very popular if spaces and lockers can be guaranteed to be free for one person every week.

I am loving the rush to claim Seans (but not Freds) and the nostalgia for the old Sam-door stock - I will have to tell dh about this - he has worked in depots that maintained it, and now, if we visit a preserved railway, he is always on the lookout for one of 'his' old carriages. Mind you - he feels very old, when he spots one in a museum! Xmas Grin

He now commutes to London by plane a lot - and I will get an indignant text if someone is sitting in 'his' seat (which varies according to the route and the plane) - or even if someone dares to sit next to him! He also commutes by train a lot, and if he can't get seat G37, he will head for K14 - and again, if someone wants to sit with him, he is definitely a rabbit of negative euphoria.

He had seat 25D on the plane this morning - and happily informed me that the whole row was empty, apart from him. But he tells me, very firmly, that he is not a creature of habit.

I have my spot on the couch, and everything looks wrong if I have to sit somewhere different!

I like the treadmill on the far left as it's under the air con and the only one that plays all the TV channels. I get most annoyed when it's gone! Also I always have the stepper to the right because it has itv tuned in Grin

I hope you're not the type of person who must use the same locker, even if it happens to be right beside where someone else is already dressing/undressing, and there's acres of free space in the rest of the changing room.
That kind of thing drives me mad in the gym.

There's a woman I work with who insists on sitting at the head of the communal table in the canteen everyday. We're always trying to scurry up ahead of her and sit there to piss her off.

I feel your pain. My dog and I have 'our' bench where we stop at a midway point. If someone has the audacity to be sitting on it, the dog plonks himself down and glares at them.

there are 300 lockers in each changing room
and we tend to use the same ones as our friends change in the same area ....

I have been swimming at my pool for TEN YEARS and have "my" locker and "my" shower. I am most put out when it's in use.

You are not alone. If i don't have my mat in the same place at Pilates then I can't get going properly, I have strategically sorted out my spot so that I am behind someone else, so if I can't hear or see what I am meant to be doing then I just follow her Wink. And i cannot see myself in the mirror constantly as I am not sure if that mirror has something wrong with it but if I look at myself I think my legs are too short, arms are too long, and I am generally out of proportion compared to everyone else in there.... I like to think its the mirror's fault....

And then of course there is the spot on the couch at home. Yes, they call me Sheldon, as that is my spot and the other couches just are not the same!!

I used to go to yoga with a woman who had 'her mat' - a red one. it wasn't her mat, it belonged to the yoga centre. If someone else had it she would not very silently seethe. Once a person who had inadvertantly put the red mat out to use, popped to the loo, and while she was out of the room Mat Woman dashed forward and swapped the mats, reclaiming 'hers'.

She was quite barking - she also used to get very riled if we went for a coffee afterwards and another group at the community centre was using the facilities. Muttering things like 'I don't see why patchwork quilters need coffee' Grin

This is hilarious!
I manage to avoid all this attachment to spots, lockers or seats by going to my gym at off peak times, when no one is there and then I get my choice of a place in the change room.
I spread out my stuff and take my time. There are occasions when the only other woman there will strangely take the locker right next to me, but I move so we both have space.

I prefer one treadmill as the others are too close to the a/c unit and I get cold, and I like a little spot on the floor to do yoga in, as the floor is flat there and it's against the wall, so I can stretch, and sometimes get a little miffed if I have to wait if there's a bug burley bloke lifting weights in it.... depends if he's cute or not obvs.

When I'm swimming I'm sure I make the lane swimmers seethe as I use the casual section to do aqua aerobics, not thrash up and down like they do.

I think they should move to the lanes section, but they don't bizarrely!
I have been known to let my noodles float into their frothy paths.....

When I did yoga in a very cold concrete floored church hall, I loved having my mat next to the heater as I feel the cold, but would budge up if someone wanted to share, and wouldn't mind if someone else was there before me. I considered it part of my yoga practice to let go of attachment!
But I know I prefer to be warm, so I'd try and get there early!!!

I need to see myself in the mirror in yoga as otherwise I struggle to tell if I'm in the pose correctly (I try and avoid looking at my wobbly tummy though as that depresses me) I also prefer to not be in the front row as its too visible to everyone else, so I go in the second row but not directly behind the person in the front row so I can still see the mirrors. I also like to be on the left side of the room as its furthest from the gym so quieter. If someone then squeezes themselves in directly in front of me I am not impressed! Or if I'm a bit late to class and have to be by the doors I can't concentrate. Poor January newbies, I try to be pleasant but they don't follow my rules!
I use a different locker every time though, maybe I'm pissing many people off by doing this.

I have my own shower. I feel all wrong if I have to use a different one. I also have my spot in my dance class. Unfortunately I think its someone elses spot in another session so the cheeky cah also stands in it. Shes practically in my trainers Hmm
