To think this van rental's company name and logo is in poor taste?

"Mental Rental" with the catchphrase of a 'a mental rate for rental mate' and to top it off nicely in case the meaning isn't clear their company logo is a brain Hmm

I think it's a brilliant name with that tag line.

Soon there won't be any words we are allowed to use to describe "craziness"

cuntycowfacemonkey · 01/12/2015 19:00

I find the shop name jack the stripper less offensive than the household appliance shop in the town I used to live that is called "housewives' choice"

I think you're getting a hard time, cunty (can I call you cunty?), though you seem well able to handle it. Grin Of course it's in poor taste, they're saying their rates are mental, to me the connotation is with mental illness, not mental arithmetic or mental effort.

Ifiwasabadger · 01/12/2015 19:10

Mental dental is genius.

PurpleHairAndPearls · 01/12/2015 19:11

I'm quite fond of Yentls' Rentals. No driving between Friday sunset and Saturday sunset.

Quite a niche market I feel Grin

PurpleHairAndPearls · 01/12/2015 19:12

Oh goodness before anyone jumps on me for that, allow me to say my family would be queuing up to rent from Yentls' Rentals Wink

Just not on the Sabbath Grin

flustercuck · 01/12/2015 19:16

Mental can also mean great. This is the mental I'm associating it with.

Mental rates = crazy prices = great value IMHO

TiredButFineODFOJ · 01/12/2015 19:22

It's a bit wrong but I like it. And Yentls rentals.

SoupDragon · 01/12/2015 19:22

What words to convey "crazy" are allowed? All are used to describe people with mental health issues.

AnyFucker · 01/12/2015 19:24

Is Yentl a surname ?

Then it's just like Smith's pies or summat.

PurpleHairAndPearls · 01/12/2015 19:31

Yentl is a word used by Jews to describe someone who is a bit of a fool and or/gullible eg "he was such a Yentl he paid £500 for a days car hire at Mental Rentals"

It's either Hebrew or Yiddish I think, not sure which.

Thanks Goring, although considering this is AIBU I don't feel too bruise [grinned]

Well soupdragon if all words associated with crazy describe people with mental illness then maybe just don't use them?

OP posts:
TracyBarlow · 01/12/2015 19:45

I like it. I'm not offended by the use of the word mental to describe someone with mental health problems. In the grand scheme of things 'she's a bit mental', or similar, is a very tame insult. I mean, obviously a doctor wouldn't use it, but I think the general population should be able to use it to describe someone with mental health issues if they don't specifically know what those issues are.

cuntycowfacemonkey · 01/12/2015 19:45

or Grin

OP posts:
cuntycowfacemonkey · 01/12/2015 19:48

Seriously TracyBarlow? Wow... I have no words. Well I do actually but there's only room for one cunty cow face on this thread

OP posts:
cuntycowfacemonkey · 01/12/2015 19:51

If you don't know specifically what someone's mental health issues are but you know they have some mental health issues you could and I know this is a bit way out there, but you could describe them as erm a person with mental health issues?

Radical I know

AnyFucker · 01/12/2015 19:53

Ah, I see re Yentl

I dunno then Confused

Unreasonablebetty · 01/12/2015 19:58

Cuntycowfacemonkey- and you are the one who ended up with this name? Not fair really. Awful to speak about people's SEN in a derogatory way, Eck some people!
Good name tho!

I also agree with your reply to TracyBarlow....

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2015 20:06

I have just had a look at their website. Is the picture supposed to be a brain? Confused

AnyFucker · 01/12/2015 20:08

mental rental

AnyFucker · 01/12/2015 20:09

oops, I thought I was typing that into google Grin Blush

AnyFucker · 01/12/2015 20:10
