To want to buy a Kindle Fire now it's reduced to £35?

Is it silly? What would I do with it, given that I've already got one? But it's so cheap....

My kindle fire has a camera but it's crap. I wouldn't buy one for that.

imaginarypeople · 28/11/2015 17:43

Very Odd, but I'm glad it came early considering I wasn't charged for delivery.
Yes the rest of my order is due to arrive around that time.

It didn't come with a lot of stuff, I assumed there would be earphones included, but it's just a charger, terms and conditions and a little card detailing the various buttons.

millefeuille1 · 28/11/2015 19:27

Thank you for that. Ordered one for husband's birthday (in new year).

FellOffMyUnicorn · 28/11/2015 20:19

ordered a couple for the DCs for xmas

Medievalgirl1 · 28/11/2015 20:51

I purchased one early yesterday morning. I'd been interested because I love to read, and I love to read ebooks on my old Kindle Keyboard- but I cannot read Library ebooks on it- and it will be useful for reading and work on the train commute.

I think I got mine early yesterday morning (before 8am) when they were still in stock- and I am a little bit envious of you guys who have already recieved yours. Mine has not even been dispatched yet!

spaceyboo · 28/11/2015 20:56

I bought it to take on my commute. It's really good value for a second tablet so no you aren't being unreasonable at all.

Tootsie1984 · 28/11/2015 21:23

I ordered one yesterday and has been dispatched and due on Tuesday. I have the original kindle and read the reviews on this one which is excellent. Partner has actually got it me for Christmas along with a case and memory card which totalled £50 all with free delivery. Can't wait till Christmas now

Medievalgirl1 · 29/11/2015 07:35

Simpson- where did you get a £2 case from!? Mine has finally been sent, so I ought to get a case for it.

sandgrown · 29/11/2015 07:40

Got a Kindle fire 2 years ago and it has been everywhere with me. I love it. That seems a great price

Wilberforce2 · 29/11/2015 08:18

Quick question for those of you who already have one, is it good as a kindle or more of a tablet? I have the old Kindle with the keyboard which is great for reading but it's definitely on its way out and the reviews I have read about the Fire say that it's more of a cheap tablet than a kindle and the reading isn't that great. I would definitely use it as a Kindle more so want to make sure it's ok or if I should save up for the Paperwhite. Hope that makes sense it's far too early!!

BondJayneBond · 29/11/2015 08:29

The camera on my Kindle really just works for selfies or Skype. It's really awkward trying to use it as an actual camera. I don't know if the camera on the one you're looking at is the same, but I'd suggest you check that out first if the camera is a serious consideration.

DontOpenDeadInside · 29/11/2015 08:36

I got my 2 younger dc the kids version. £70 and get the case, a years prime kids subscription and if they break it a no quibble exchange. They are totally not expecting it so can't wait to see their faces. :)

ProfGrammaticus · 29/11/2015 08:42

Wilber - it's a tablet, will look like a phone screen, not the white flat kindle reading screen that I think you are after.

BondJayneBond · 29/11/2015 08:45

Wilberforce - I tend to use my Kindle Fire as a tablet rather than for reading. I'm mumsnetting on it now. It works fine for reading books for me, but I've never used a Paperwhite so have no idea how they compare.

Beautifullymixed · 29/11/2015 09:11

Thanks all on this thread. I had this in my amazon shopping basket to buy for my dcs. Had not seen the price had gone down. Saw this thread, and rushed to click-not noticing the late dispatch. I don't want the stress of waiting so close to Christmas at all. Read the rest of the thread, saw available in argos for the same price. Cancelled amazon, and ordered from argos.
Available in five days. Job done.

Thanks OP for this thread.

Beautifullymixed · 29/11/2015 09:17

Agree with pp, the reviews are great. I spent a fortune on a Samsung 10 inch tablet, which is sitting in a draw at the moment. Developed a fault with the charging port. John lewis didn't want to know. Paid for it to be fixed via a local shop, only for the same thing to happen.
Hopefully this will do the job just fine.
They will not expect it at all Smile

velourvoyageur · 29/11/2015 09:21

Could I ask, can you put PDFs and your own docs on it?

Does seem like an amazing price!

DyslexicScientist · 29/11/2015 09:24

Yabu just to buy as cheap.

I wouldn't get it. Low ress screen, average battery, poor sound and stuck with amazon eco system. They are sold cheap to hope you buy lots in store.

I bought a high end 10 inch Samsung tablet with 32gb for 150 last year. Seeing as I use it for hours each day its worth splashing out on IMO.

Blush drawer

thebossof3 · 29/11/2015 10:10

Tesco are also doing them for £35 but you can also double up clubcard vouchers as well. My mum got 3 and paid less than £2 in cash

Nataleejah · 29/11/2015 10:13

I bought it. Waiting for it to arrive

Blueandwhitelover · 29/11/2015 10:23

Tesco are out of stock :-( Hubby is just off to Argos to pick up his :-)

Purplepixiedust · 29/11/2015 10:27

It's not a kindle fire. It's an Amazon fire. Great price. Not a kindle though - they are more expensive.

LaChatte · 29/11/2015 11:02

They're on offer here in France too, but with a catchy there is advertising on them, from what I gather adverts come up on the sleep screen, adverts that you can click on to buy things. You can unsubscribe to this for an extra €15.

velourvoyageur · 29/11/2015 11:26

Bought one just after I posted, then cancelled it later....don't actually need a tablet. Not sure what I'd use it for, I like my phone and laptops. Also agree with LaChatte, the adverts are a catch.
