to be annoyed by "could I be pregnant" posts

Before I get going I am in no way being nasty or judgemental here, just find it amusing when people post the "could I be pregnant" posts, then go on to say how they aren't using protection and had unprotected sex blah blah blah, seems pretty obvious to me based on that alone that yes they could be pregnant so instead of wasting their own time asking us why not go to the doctor and get it confirmed? We aren't going to be able to tell them a definate yes or no over a computer are we? Grin

Wondered how long it would take before there was one of these posts Grin
First of all I am very sympathetic to people trying to conceive or having problems conceiving that isn't at all what this thread is about! It's about people asking us whether they could be pregnant when common sense tells u the only way to know this for sure is with a test!
Secondly 99% of the people who had replied to my thread have agreed with me so it seems I'm not the minority here..
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I was simply voicing mine in a thr ad I created to do so
Thanks Smile

The 'is this a line?' And you click and it's a whopping obvious line ones are annoying. Just post 'yeah I'm pregnant!' Fgs. Must be annoying for those struggling.

The faint ones where you have to squint or invert, I'm fine with though.

goodnightdarthvader1 · 22/11/2015 10:59

YES. I hate those. I usually tell them to pee on their computer and we'll tell them the result. It's ridiculous.

rageagainsttheBIL · 22/11/2015 11:05

OK, well my opinion is that this thread is just as fucking pointless as those.

HTH

BumpAndGrind · 22/11/2015 11:06

I did this just the other week.

TTC, stupidly POAS at 7ish DPO. Saw the faintest of lines.

I posted on here. Waiting for a few days and testing again seemed so impossibly far away.

Realistically though, I just wanted to share the news with someone.

I'm 5 weeks today.

Natalieday1 · 22/11/2015 11:07

Wonderful glad u felt able to voice that! But being that it's a pointless thread u have just added a pointless comment to my pointless thread Grin so well done for that Confused

Bump and grind congratulations!
I totally understand that it's a tough time iv been there myself and not at any point was I slating people like urself in fact if u look back through the posts u will see that not once did I make a comment on people who post pregnancy tests and ask for opinions!
I was talking about the silly posts where people who haven't even took a test r asking us if we think they could be pregnant or not!

"Around here doctors don't want to see you."

Same here. When I was expecting DD I had a positive pregnancy test and booked an appointment with the GP thinking that was what you did. I almost got "why are you here" from the doctor. I was told that OTC pregnancy tests were so accurate that doctors no longer did pregnancy tests. I was just told to make an appointment to see the midwife.

I did end up having several blood tests as I started bleeding. Luckily DD was determined to stick.

barefootzenhippy · 22/11/2015 11:13

Yanbu! They sell packs of 2 tests in the pound shop ffs! I don't mind the "is this a line?" threads as at least the op in there had the common sense to take a test instead of asking strangers on the internet first and sometimes you can think you're going crazy and imagining things.

WorraLiberty · 22/11/2015 11:14

YES. I hate those. I usually tell them to pee on their computer and we'll tell them the result. It's ridiculous.

Jibberjabberjooo · 22/11/2015 11:14

I quite like the 'is this a line' threads. Although as a pp said, the amount of people that post asking about the faint line and it's the most obvious line ever!

MrEverything · 22/11/2015 11:17

YANBU and I find it strange how excited random MNers get over a complete stranger and their potential pregnancy.

Bunbaker · 22/11/2015 11:19

So do I MrEverything. To be honest I'm not that interested in other people's children.

ImperialBlether · 22/11/2015 11:22

I'll probably get flamed for this, but what I hate is when women ask whether they could be pregnant, say they are trying to conceive, but that they can't afford a pregnancy test. I think it's really irresponsible to plan a pregnancy when you can't afford that.

Jibberjabberjooo · 22/11/2015 11:25

Everyone seems to think you need a
Clearblue digital when you don't. I bought some Wilko's cheapies. Pound shops sell tests.

AuntieStella · 22/11/2015 11:26

I'd quite like a 'sticks and scans' topic.

So all those with expertise at deciding whether something is a line and if so whether it has the 'positive' colour, or in deciding if grey fuzz is a boy or a girl, they'll know where to look.

And those of us who are mildly baffled by it all can hide it all.

ImperialBlether · 22/11/2015 11:29

Even so, Jibber - what's a Clearblue test - £10? How can someone plan a pregnancy when they can't afford £10?

Mumberjack · 22/11/2015 11:29

At my current doctors surgery they often do pregnancy tests as some people can't afford a hpt.

hellsbells76 · 22/11/2015 11:34

it's quite possible there would be nutters out there that would pretend they were pregnant right up until the point of the first scan

It does happen occasionally: the women who do this are usually very damaged and mentally unwell and often remain convinced of their pregnancy even after scan evidence shows there is nothing there. It's really sad and calling them 'nutters' is insensitive and unpleasant.

Natalieday1 · 22/11/2015 11:36

Oh for god sake I was joking! People need to stop taking offence to a choice of word! Jesus better not say that either actually might get slated for using the name in vain. Grin

OP posts:
Natalieday1 · 22/11/2015 11:39

Just to defend myself AGAIN obviously I was in no way slating people that r mentally unwell, I was meaning those people that "pretend" they r pregnant for attention!honestly some people on this site r so bloody uptight! Loosen up guys!!

OP posts:
goodnightdarthvader1 · 22/11/2015 12:05

natalie this site is full of people wanting to jump on you for using the wrong word (or the wrong spelling, or the wrong grammar) ...

Natalieday1 · 22/11/2015 12:07

I noticed that! Be nice to be as perfect as them lot eh? Could say a lot more but not going to get personal Grin

OP posts:
Bunbaker · 22/11/2015 12:30

"but what I hate is when women ask whether they could be pregnant, say they are trying to conceive, but that they can't afford a pregnancy test."

I agree. If they can't afford a couple of quid for a pregnancy test they can't afford a child.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 22/11/2015 12:46

Ynbu. Unreasonable. To me it snacks of attention seeking and wanting the world and his wife to know they're "doing it".
The only pregnancy quresdtion I ever asked was when my period was around 3 weeks late and I d done umpteen tests but all negative. So I was worried that I could have been going through the change, as I'm not as young as I was once was.
