to think that Body Shop body scrubs are never used?

I have had 3 of these in gift sets in the last year or so and they are gathering dust.

I did try using the chocolate one I got but it is messy to scrub around and looks like poo and I prefer other methods of exfoliation.

I can't be the only one not to use them but is there anyone who does?

I love the pink grapefruit one, I never use the body butters and have fracking loads of them
The mojito scrub they did last year was yummy

I prefer buying these things for myself as little treats, but as I get a set every year, and they're used so infrequently as to be able to lass five, I have too many (of other peoples tastes, or guesses at mine) that I can't justify buying one for myself.

I get more use out of body butters than scrubs.

I agree Whatthefuck I think it needs to move on too. I know nostalgia makes me want to keep it the same but I don't think that's helping their sales. I became heavily invested after reading Anita Roddick's autobiography years ago and I'm sad to see it just floundering under L'oreal.

BrandNewAndImproved · 20/11/2015 21:12

I love the coconut scrub!

hefzi · 20/11/2015 21:14

YANBU - they aren't scrubby enough...

Whatthefuck Boots do some salty ones which are good if you like a harsher scrub - I also got some SpaceNK ones in last year's Christmas sale for a fiver: they are lovely and scrubby, but I couldn't every justify paying £20 for a tube out of the sale. Rituals are also awesome - they are pricey, but they sometimes have great deals on, and they used to send you a 30% off voucher for your birthday, which makes them fair. Or eBay...

StrawberrytallCake · 20/11/2015 21:15

**Although actually it's not floundering in all places - yet here the sales are dropping and it is.

DrDreReturns · 20/11/2015 21:19

I just use a bar of soap.

ToastedStoat · 20/11/2015 21:25

They're very handy after you've dyed your hair purple, pink and blue and have the remnants all down your neck...

Greenteandchives · 20/11/2015 21:38

I use them in the showers at the gym. I don't have to clean them. Grin

BoyFromTheBigBadCity · 20/11/2015 21:47

I make scrub out of ground coffee, porridge oats and honey. It keeps for ages and it's a really good scrub.

I scrub onto dry skin, then wash off, much more effective I find.

munkisocks · 20/11/2015 21:53

I like the salt and sugar scrubs. Really lovely. Elle macpherson used to do a brilliant one. Maybe re gift them haha

Whatthefucknameisntalreadytake · 20/11/2015 22:01

Oh thanks Hefzi :) I'm using a rituals one at the mo and love it. Might try the boots one next.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 20/11/2015 22:25

Yanbu

I hate the way they feel against my skin, all rough and yuck. They don't seem to actually scrub either.

Lush's ocean salt on the other hand...

expatinscotland · 20/11/2015 23:47

I never use them. They make the bath a mess. I use exfoliating gloves and a body brush.

DisappointedOne · 21/11/2015 00:14

Another nestle nasty. :)

Needtobebetter · 21/11/2015 00:29

I have loads of body scrubs and body butters, I don't use them because they don't do anything that a cheaper product doesn't do. They leave my skin feeling greasy rather than smooth, even when I only use a tiny bit. A body brush or exfoliating gloves and a bottle of Vaseline intensive care do a better job.

Strawberry for me the fact that each product comes in every scent really put me off, it seems to cheapen it. With higher end brands like Temple Spa etc there are specific products which makes them seem essential.

Baconyum · 21/11/2015 00:32

"I'm doing some work on the body shop at the moment (university) any ideas on how they could update their offerings to make it less 'shop of our youth' would be amazing." Not the product quality that's the problem it's their ethics. It was the first full shop to be veggie friendly and its now betrayed all ethical promise! Animal testing, ethical sourcing etc

WelshMoth · 21/11/2015 00:36

I miss the small bottles they used to do - absolutely perfect for holidays and travelling away.

chanie44 · 21/11/2015 07:48

I read that many companies use plastic exfoliation beads which are all littering the bottoms of our rivers and oceans. I'm not sure whether the body shop uses biodegradable beads, but I would expect a company with its ethics to do so.

In saying that, I don't know what the body shop stands anymore and maybe that's part of the problem.

ValancyJane · 21/11/2015 08:11

YANBU, I haven't used them in yonks (I discovered the sanctuary scrubs from boots, amazing!). However their peppermint foot scrub is ace!

SorryCantBeArsed · 21/11/2015 08:26

I got a large Body Shop set for my birthday, has all kinds of stuff in including scrub. It's strawberry scented, who the hell wants to smell like a sweet sticky strawberry??
I did say thank you and it's lovely, to the person who bought it for me but is now sat in a cupboard.
Free to a good home!Grin

SconeForAStroll · 21/11/2015 10:15

Trying to remember what made BodyShop so aspirational back in the 90s...

I do remember that you could get some really small things for pocket money prices. Refillable perfumes and body wash (or am I imagining that?)

It just feels expensive now, and so many sales on that I have no idea of the correct price of stuff.

Fallout4fan · 21/11/2015 10:38

I use everything I get because I love smellies.
I use body scrubs, bath bombs, lotions & potions.
Unfortunately I hardly ever get any Sad
