Probably up to 32ish but it depends on context. Railcards seem to suggest that 26 is the cut-off. For example, I think 37 (my age) would be very young to die or to be the prime minister but I wouldn't describe myself as young anymore (unless possibly if I was on a Ramblers walk). However, I'm also loath to describe myself as middle-aged. Maybe if I'd had my children younger I would feel older now.

My parents are 66 and 67 and I don't really think of them as being elderly as they are both quite fit and healthy.

Surely it depends on a multitude of factors, not just age? Health, wealth, outlook, lifestyle, working, children etc.

Even considering a generous life expectancy of 90, then
0-30 = young
30-60= middle aged
60-75 = elderly
75-90 = old.
I like the work "elderly", it has a quiet dignity about it. Smile

Word, sorry!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/11/2015 16:50

35, for me.

EnaSharplesHairnet · 15/11/2015 16:53

I give leeway up to 25 then I expect fully formed adult behaviour!

FattyNinjaOwl · 15/11/2015 17:13

I'm 24 so to most of you I'm young! Yay!
I would say under 40ish is young. And old only starts at 65ish. I say ish because some people seem much younger than they are, whereas others seem older.
