Before Disappointed goes off on a possibly Daily Mail inspired rant...
CiN has about £90m held in reserve, both normal accounts and investments. The DM made a huge fuss about it, asked why the money was sat there instead of being used for good deeds.
Sensible folks said, "Of course they do. They pay out over a number of years, s they need to hold reserves to ensure that any project offered money over 3 years will get it, that the money won't run out before they get their final installment"
"Pah!" said the DM "They would say that, wouldn't they?"
And they have a raffle prize every year £3 a ticket; Yes Chris Evans owns the pub - and puts the multiple nights on for free, food, drink, satff, marquee hire, etc etc etc.
That sham raises so much money that funds so many good causes that even DH, who cannot stand the idea of Friday night's jollity he hibernates every year, donates (as ling as he doesn't have to go anywhere or wear anything).
Having been a recipient of 3 years funding, in a local charity, I know how much that funding is relied on. You don't often get 3 years worth of money, guaranteed!
