Is having your bra on show tacky?

I've talking about the front of your bra showing

I want to buy a plunging neckline playsuit.

It's kind of obviously made for women with a smaller chest.

I'm a size 8 and my cup size is DD/E.

The playsuit is black and obviously I would wear a black (non lacy) bra too.

Is this a very tacky look?

Just seen the photo. I'm 23. No way. Ick.

MaidOfStars · 11/11/2015 22:25

I personally think that style is one for the flat chesters.

lightupmynight · 11/11/2015 22:25

I did say I would wear a black bra with the outfit.

(For clarity: no bra and tit tape)

twirlypoo · 11/11/2015 22:28

I am all for a bit of bra flashing but that photo looks like you have forgot to put your top on! By the way, is that you? I think I would just walk around naked if I looked that good

MaidOfStars · 11/11/2015 22:32

I think what makes it really awful is the fact that you can see flesh underneath the bra. I thought you meant you'd be flashing just the top of the cups (which was bad enough). I didn't imagine you meant that!

plantsitter · 11/11/2015 22:42

Forgive me, but if you think it's a generational thing perhaps mumsnet isn't the best place to ask.. (apols to all the early 20s mums here but I don't think you're the average age).

It's a 'no' from me even though if that's you in the mirror I wish I were you. It's not that it looks tacky, it just looks like you spilt ketchup on the top you were wearing underneath and had to take it off.

CakeNinja · 11/11/2015 22:52

Erm... Can you link to the actual one?
Because that one is awful, bra and jumpsuit, but you only said its similar so hopefully the one you actually like is less... Tarty?! I don't know, it's just screaming "look at my boobs" and it makes me cringe a bit Confused
But yes, overall I think you could get away with it if you were flat of chest and went braless and used strategically placed tape!
I'm 30 now but would never have gone out dressed like that at 20!!

ouryve · 11/11/2015 23:36

OK, I'm old enough to be your mother, but I wouldn't go out on a breezy day in that, or you'd be showing a lot more of your bra!

I'd also wonder about the practicalities of relieving yourself in the swamps typically on offer on a night out.

atticusclaw2 · 11/11/2015 23:39

Sorry but that just looks ridiculous. It looks like she's forgotten to put her top on.

whois · 12/11/2015 01:10

Omg just seen the photo! Surely you're meant to wear something under that. You'll look terrible out and about in that with your bear on show. I was thinking you meant just a little bit of bra!

EnjoyTheSimpleThingsInLife · 12/11/2015 03:29

I think that is very tacky tbh. (I am early 20's) 36G boobs and there is no way I would wear that... If I saw someone wearing that I would think it was tacky..but of course you can wear whatever you want

daisychain01 · 12/11/2015 03:51

at the risk of sounding like your granny.. you'll catch your death in that

Was just coming on here after seeing the photo to say, I'd nip down to Marks and buy a cardi Grin

Blimey I must be a bit old or something!

OP if you can't wear this in your early 20s when can you!

Lweji · 12/11/2015 06:15

You can wear whatever you like when you like.

However, that looks like it was meant to be worn with the plunge to the back...

SinglePringle · 12/11/2015 06:41

If I saw someone out in that outfit, I would think 'Oh poor love, why doesn't one of her mates tell her her tittape has come unstuck?!'

That outfit is designed to be worn by the flat chested amongst us. With the aforementioned tit tape of industrial strength.

atticusclaw2 · 12/11/2015 08:05

Yep, its on backwards.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 12/11/2015 08:16

Wow. This is a whole new version of the 90s orange bomber jacket over black bra look (as sported by Scary Spice and, erm, Abby from Appassionata). Is the plunge meant to be narrower?

Lweji · 12/11/2015 08:21

Madonna, of course, did it a lot earlier, but mostly under lace.

thebestfurchinchilla · 12/11/2015 14:25

That picture is so not a good look no matter how skinny you are, you won't relax in that and everyone will be staring at your chest!

It might be an age thing (I'm 40) but I think you should wear whatever the fuck you like and be damned what other people think. If you like it and feel comfortable in it then go for it.

CoralieConfused · 12/11/2015 15:32

The photo is just awful - looks silly and unfinished and rather grim. I'm in my mid 20s by the way!

Garlick · 12/11/2015 15:50

From Lweji's video - Get one of these.

Garlick · 12/11/2015 15:56

I'm probably older than your granny Grin but, way back when, I used to have a bra for such necklines that didn't have a front bridge. It fastened itself to your boobs via a cross-over strap arrangement that goes round your waist. I reckon you can still get them (deep plunge bra?) but the V-bra in the video looks a damn sight more pragmatic.

She compares it to a normal bra, you can see how it changes the look from sliced-across-the-chest, as you were in your photo.

FishOn · 12/11/2015 16:08

My first thought is 'she's got that on back to front' in that photo Grin
