Boring but necessary thread! I just want to find a reliable, non clumpy, mid price range mascara for every day use. It's become a mission, can anyone help me please?!

Maybelline and L'Oreal are owned by the same company and have some of the best mascaras around.

Nestle owns these brands. (www.babymilkaction.org)

I've gone through everything from the cheapest to the most expensive and my two favourites (at the moment!) are Diorshow and L'Oréal volume million.

cantgonofurther · 11/11/2015 10:44

My favourite is benefit bad gal. There's real seems more popular though.

sherbertlemon17 · 11/11/2015 10:52

Seconding pandarific! Max factor masterpiece max is my holy grail. I've been using it for years, occasionally dipping in to others and nothing seems to come close!

VenusRising · 11/11/2015 10:55

There are many types of mascara.

What effect are you looking for? Wafty? Thicker? Cat eye effect?

What are your lashes like? Are they fine and long? Short and thick? Short and fine? Long and thick? What colour are they?

Have you sensitive eyes? Some mascaras give off fumes which make eyes water.

Are your lids oily or sweaty- this can mean your mascara runs and goes everywhere.

For example, I have long, thick lashes, with very sensitive eyes, and all eye make up runs off my oily lids, so I use Clinique lengthening mascara.
I've tried Lancôme and it's a second place. Cheaper mascaras irritate my eyes, and ones like Chanel make my eye lashes shorten and fall out.
Can't use waterproof as my eyes water all day and the mascara turns into flakes and irritates my eyes.

I never use mascara on my lower lashes as I'd look like a doll (and it would run off)

Clinique lengthening mascara has no nasty whiffs, stays put without flaking, or dissolving, and keeps my lashes healthy. I use garner micellar water to take it off.
It's my go to, and I always have a tube in my kit. I watch and buy Clinique products at bonus time just for the extra mascara tube you get as a freebie.

I find they all clump when I first start using them and only look natural half way through the tube.

iwannadancewithsomebody · 11/11/2015 11:01

Loving No 7 Midnight lash

rageagainsttheBIL · 11/11/2015 11:01

Max Factor in general are good. Often on special offer in Boots / Superdrug for around £7-8. I bought the masterpiece Max on recommendation here and I really like it. No clumping, flaking or smudging and pretty foolproof to apply.

Superdrug are doing 3 for 2 across beauty at the moment as well.

redexpat · 11/11/2015 11:52

Boots no. 7. Cant remember what its called but its in a dark green tube.

weeblueberry · 11/11/2015 11:54

Benefit Roller Lash. There was a sample in Glamour a few months ago and it really sold it to me. Love it.

G1veMeStrength · 11/11/2015 11:59

I bought some from Aldi the other day and have been v pleased with it. For around £2, its black gunk in a tube on a brush, can't see the point of paying a fortune for it. It doesn't clump or flake.

littledrummergirl · 11/11/2015 12:13

Yabu

FireCrotch · 11/11/2015 12:33

I buy good quality travel sized ones. Usually Benefit They're Real or Bad Gal. However I've tried L'Oreal Million in the past couple of days and I might have to convert. If you fancy a blue mascara I got a free Dior sample and it's gorgeous. It looks like black mascara but when the light catches its electric blue. Very jazzy. :o

MascaraAndConverse89 · 11/11/2015 12:35

No7 Lash Impact.
It's the one in the sparkly red tube Smile

HopefulAnxiety · 11/11/2015 12:35

OP do you prefer a bristle brush or a silicone brush? For me discovering that I much prefer a bristle brush has made such a difference. I like Bourjois Volume Glamour.

CalonDu · 11/11/2015 12:38

Max Factor False Lash effect. I always go back to it. God knows why I bother trying other ones because it's clearly the best for me.

HopefulAnxiety · 11/11/2015 12:40

Also everyone raves about Clinique being the best for sensitive eyes but it makes mine sting Confused

LadyDeadpool · 11/11/2015 13:29

Missha 4D mascara on ebay from Korea £3 and amazing

Dismalfuckers · 11/11/2015 13:33

The only one you need is eyeko skinny brush mascara.

Looks lovely, natural or built up, and stays on with no panda eyes.

I have had three separate compliments on my eyelashes in the past month which I am very pleased with as I thought my eyelashes had gone crap with age ??

HackerFucker22 · 11/11/2015 14:13

Has to be Body Shop for sensitive eyes.

clockbuscanada · 11/11/2015 14:18

Diorshow if I'm going out or if my tint's wearing off. I have long curled but quite thin eyelashes and usually get away with just having them tinted. I wear contact lenses and have sensitive eyes/oily skin.

QueenArnica · 11/11/2015 15:00

Thank you all so much for your suggestions, am going mascara shopping tomorrow! I use Benefit Badgal when I'm going out but wanted one for everyday use. Smile

I've used every mascara under the sun and my absolute favourite is L'Oreal Manga extra black.

purplefizz26 · 11/11/2015 15:24

Loreal telescopic - gold tube.

Amazing

YouBoggleMyMind · 11/11/2015 16:24

Lancome Hypnose is the best mascara i've ever bought!
