Facebook related moan warning

Since I've joined mn I can no longer ignore all the yummy mummy posts, the Huns xx , the calling all mummies etc...

You lot have ruined it all. Now when I see them, I can feel my teeth grind just a little.

Nearly every post contains one of the above (sobs)

Bring back my ignorance!!

Well I'm descended from Hun stock so watch it, you lot.

CoteDAzur · 11/11/2015 14:16

I will report any mention of the word 'Hun' in whatever context from now on, as it is offensive to me. I invite you all to join in this mission to end racism on MN. Here's to hoping this helps clear the hun-ning around here.

i used to hate Hun and Honey, it felt really over familiar, now it is just an extra ignored word like.

troubleatmillcock · 11/11/2015 18:06

Just got 'M8'.

Groans.

troubleatmillcock · 11/11/2015 18:09

The only person in the world who can use the word 'honey' as a name with any conviction whatsoever is my old colleague who was from Jamaica.

It was genuine and from the heart when she said it.

AlisonWunderland · 11/11/2015 18:14

Thank you for explaining what a spoon fucker is.
I'm married to one.

Mumsnet has certainly ruined me. I was a sedate, prim, god fearing, middle class housewife and then I joined mumsnet.
I am now a potty mouthed, loud mouthed, sweary atheist and a commom old tart to boot.

A close family member of mine Vaguebooks all the time. "Checks in" to hospitals, waits for all the "wot's up hun?", "oh no, hope everything's ok" posts to come, then either tells people to PM her or comes back 6 hours later to say she was there for a check up. It's tedious as fuck.

I also have no patience for the "just been to parent's evening, what a wonderful, clever, amazing little boy I have #proudmummy #johnnyisagenius #mylifeisbetterthanyours" posts. Especially when you know that Johnny is actually a little shit.

maddening · 11/11/2015 19:38

I never Looked at the daily mail ever before I joined mn - now I end up on it from links on posts :)

murmuration · 11/11/2015 19:49

Hey, I'm also an Italian American! And I'm afraid I have to admit I use 'hun' verbally quite a lot, but only to my daughter, and I think of it as 'hon', as in an abbreviation of how you actually spell 'honey', which I also call her. I'm nonplussed at the concept that disliking it could be considered racist... I have no idea where I got 'hon' from and not even sure if my family uses it.

BillyDaveysDaughter · 11/11/2015 21:48

I recall being vaguely repulsed by the word "hun" as an abbreviation of honey, but got used to it as more of my friends used it in texts. I confess I've used it, but only with certain friends and really only as a slightly gentler substitute for "mate". Since I joined MN I refuse to ever use it again.

Despise vague-booking, people liking and sharing bollocks like forever living or juice plus or cleanse your colon with these socks type nonsense. Also hate the hash tag thing #thisisn'ttwitteryougigantictwat. And txt spk. And "like for an amen". And jumping on every sentimental bandwagon to demonstrate how deep you are.

And people sharing vile shocking pictures of animal cruelty to "raise awareness".
