What item commonly held by --nutty- preppers would just be A Step Too Far for you?

I was going to say spam, but then I thought of those whole tinned chickens. The tinned chickens actually look pretty normal now...
Also, surströmming, known as the smelliest food in the world.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 08/11/2015 17:28

Naked beans?? Grin

AnotherStitchInTime · 08/11/2015 17:30

Tinned hamburgers in gravy bleurgh, I bought a can out of interest from Lidl and opened it to see what it was like. The sight alone put me off.

Like tinned pears and tinned fruit in general.

SilverOldie2 · 08/11/2015 17:30

Could eat tinned pears quite happily - my step too far would be pasta, a mouthful of slimey bits - bleurgh

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 08/11/2015 17:31

I think I'm just going to store sugar and tins of evaporated milk and we can live off fudge.

LineyReborn · 08/11/2015 17:33

Clearly I am destined to be a top prepper because I like tinned ham, sardines, beans and pears.

Not so keen on the chocolate raisins though. My bunker pudding of choice would be evaporated milk on tinned strawberries.

Iwasworried · 08/11/2015 17:43

Surely Heston Blumenthal must be working on a Waitrose longlife food line - for the discerning prepper? If not, there's a gap in the market ...

GiddyOnZackHunt · 08/11/2015 17:49

Worried Heston's probably working on baked bean and pear pate as we speak Grin

GiddyOnZackHunt · 08/11/2015 17:52

Liney in my pre veggie days I would have been prep queen too. Pilchards, Spam, tinned fruit and faggots were all on my menu. And Vesta Paella was a treat

RickRoll · 08/11/2015 17:58

Pork brains

noeffingidea · 08/11/2015 17:59

Any tinned meat, but especially ham. My parents used to give us that pek ham for our packed lunches when we were kids, mine used to go straight in the bin.
I quite like tinned fruit, apart from pineapple chunks.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/11/2015 18:05

There's almost nothing I won't eat, so I'll be fine. Tinned fruit is fine. Wouldn't eat tinned petfood but that's probably psychological. I expect a lot of what goes into it is also in the human food chain.

I'm very fond of mushy peas. Send any surplus my way, please! Grin

Pipbin · 08/11/2015 18:09

why are they called pork brains and not pig brains?

LineyReborn · 08/11/2015 18:16

Pork brains in milk gravy. Roll on Armageddon.

LineyReborn · 08/11/2015 18:18

Giddy I think the veggie prepper needs to think high calorie with a hint of green. So, cashews, asparagus and wine it is, then.

My gran use to live next to a famous tinning company. She would get given bags of tined goods with no labels on. Every now and then we would have a pot luck dinner. Never quite sure what the tin would contain.

I can't stand tinned potatoes. A girl called Jack is always on about how fantastic they are. No they're not. They're horrible. And tinned peas and just about any thing that contains meat or what pretends to me meant. Hot dogs in brine, yuck!

I imagine a tinned chicken being very inefficient in a bunker apocalypse type situation, all skin and bones to be disposed of. I wouldn't want to open the door and chuck them out, it would attract the zombies / looters / radiation / HMRC.

RickRoll · 08/11/2015 18:28

" A girl called Jack is always on about how fantastic they are."

You mean "Jack at a pinch"

If you keep on misgendering it will bring on the zombie apocalypse.

Cocolepew · 08/11/2015 18:29

Depends if the food can be heated up.
I like baked beans but don't think I could cope with cold ones.
I don't even like eating off a cold plate .
Very partial to tinned fruit though.

Oh god, that tinned chicken

tibbawyrots · 08/11/2015 18:31

I will happily eat all tinned fruit but the only tinned meat I will touch is corned beef. I nearly hurled At the picture of the pork brains let alone the chicken... Guess I'm going to lose weight rapidly come the day! Confused

Ineedtimeoff · 08/11/2015 18:32

Envy that's my vomit face after seeing the tinned chicken
