to ask how you get your haircut with a baby?

No one can look after my baby for a while so how on earth do I go to the hairdresser?! I so want a haircut but could baby come with me? What if she needs feeding (I breastfeed) or gets bored / sad?? My haircut usually takes about 40-50 mins. It is my little luxury to get it done in a nice salon... Grin

Mobile hairdresser! Get some recommendations, it is sooo much easier and cheaper to have someone come to you than go to a salon!

Is babys dad on the scene? Could they take the little one? Alternatively could a relative take baby for a walk near to the salon while you get your hair done?

I just cut my own haha but you sound like the visit itself is something you want to keep doing.

I didn't. I went years without a professional cut.

I think some mums use mobile hairdressers but that doesn't appeal to me.

Ive seen people with babies in my salon but I'd hate it. I always left ds with dh even when he was ebf and little.

Go at a very quiet time, like Monday morning. Do they know you? Explain when booking you might need a break but ideally tank her up before and hope for the best. Could your Partner have her at the weekend alternatively? I went at three months which was the first time I was happy leaving her for more than an hour. The hairdresser was a bit 'what the hell is this on your head?!?'

Yes its the visit I like... It's one of the few "luxury" me times I like to have. Usually dh/mil will look after baby but they can't for a few weeks and it's been 6 weeks already Sad Wink

My hairdresser came to me mobile when dd was little. So much easier, and cheaper. If you ask around you should be able to find a good mobile hairdresser

What would do with baby? Pram next to me? It'll be too noisy won't it, poor little lamb. I think I'll have to keep waiting

Noise isn't usually an issue for tiny babies. You could bring her, I breastfed my baby while in the chair before when an appointment for colour went on much longer than expected and my mum had to leave. But it won't be the nice relaxing experience you enjoy, unfortunately.

Yes my mobile hairdresser was the same hairdresser I had in the salon . So I got the same hair but at a fraction of the cost. Alot of hairdressers do mobile as well so it might be worth asking yours on the QT

Get someone (partner, parent, trusted friend) to come with you, give a feed just before and leave them with the baby in a coffee shop nearby. Then you just leave them for the duration of the cut. Can you get someone to do that?

I used to religiously have a 6 week cut, now it's every 3-4 months!!

I've just taken my 5.5 month old with me. She fed, slept, wiggled around on my lap and loved watching what was going on. That's DD2 - I'd never have dared attempt the same with DD1!

Babies are easy. BF before leaving the house (if live a long way from the hairdresser take into town and feed at a friendly cafe before and after the haircut), either leave at home with DH or take with me, then BF when get home. They like the sound of the hairdriers when they are small. I never missed a haircut when the kids were small. My hair went curly each time I was pregnant so I had very strange hair for a while (half curly, half not) that desperately needed a regular seeing to by an expert.

Toddlers on the other hand... DS is a nightmare, although his lovely hairdresser bribes him with biscuits which always works well.

There is light at the end of the tunnel though; DD1 (who is now 7) loves coming to the hairdresser with me, she takes a pile of books, gets offered a drink of juice and curls up on a sofa or comfy chair and reads for the hour. Bliss for her (no annoying little siblings wanting to play with her) and easy for me (and you get lots of compliments about your well behaved child).

I took mine with me too. The girl who washes hair wheeled him around the salon in his buggy the whole time. Go when it's quiet. Now he's older though DH has to have him so I go on a Saturday.

Just took mine with me. Sometimes they slept in pram, sometimes breastfed under cloth, sometimes just sat on my lap/ pram and watched , hairdressers have also entertained them. Call and ask them when is their quietest time so it doesn't matter if it takes longer than usual

No reason not to take a small baby with you if that's what you want to do! I go to a nice salon and I checked first, it wasn't a problem.

I ask DH to work from home... But I only go to the hairdresser a couple of times a year because they always fuck up my hair

When mine were very little i took them - they both slept through it all, it was honestly never a problem.

I took her. Good thing about BF is if she cries you can stick her under the gown and feed
