No one can look after my baby for a while so how on earth do I go to the hairdresser?! I so want a haircut but could baby come with me? What if she needs feeding (I breastfeed) or gets bored / sad?? My haircut usually takes about 40-50 mins. It is my little luxury to get it done in a nice salon... Grin

Mine have come with me as babies and toddlers. I just have cut and blow dry so not too long. I've had a pause for a milk break before.

LemonBreeland · 07/11/2015 22:28

I've always taken mine with me, it's never been an issue.

I took DS with me a couple of times. Once when quite small (pre weaning) where he sat in his pushchair and enjoyed the view/being cooed over by all the ladies in the salon. The second time he was 20 months and I was dreading it - he was on a 48 hour ban from childcare setting for some minor ailment but was completely well and I had a desperately needed haircut scheduled before our holiday. I put him in the pushchair and gave him mountains of chocolate buttons lots of books, toys and some snacks. He was good as gold, he made up for it on holiday though even when I had to leave him in another part of the salon for a short time and he couldn't see me (watched over by the lovely receptionist). When he was really tiny I would feed him then my mum wheeled him around town in the pram and then we would have a coffee afterwards while I fed DS again.

Go midweek when it's quieter and you should be fine. Good luck!

Make the most of dc being a baby. As others say feed them/buggy etc now.
Dd is nearly 2 shes an absolute nightmare in the hairdressers. I pay a cm to have her.

geekymommy · 07/11/2015 23:15

If you're just getting a cut, feed the baby beforehand, make an appointment so there's no waiting, and take the baby along in a stroller. I've done that.

Bluenailsblueshoes · 07/11/2015 23:28

Always took ds either slept in the pram or played in the pram. Still take him now age 7 but now he plays on the iPad.

BackInTheRealWorld · 07/11/2015 23:30

I used to breastfeed during haircut. Baby is feeding under the cape thing they make you wear and that's about it!

Bambambini · 08/11/2015 01:29

I used to just walk until they fell asleep in their pram and then dashed into nearby salons and asked if they had a slot - and hope that they were finished before he woke up.

Fatmomma99 · 08/11/2015 01:30

I breast-fed whilst getting my hair cut. She was fine under the gown.

My hairdresser doesn't allow DC as they say that many mums come in for a break and it can be disruptive to that - same as a day spa I suppose! (obviously noone can be sure in advance how the child will be..).

I must say I've never taken mine. When it was too hard to juggle everyone I used a mobile which was fantastic. She used to put my colour on, cut my 2 x DC and DH hair then cut mine and go home - while I was having my wash/cut DH would put the DC to bed!!!

Now I don't know anyone who does mobile (or anyone who's any good!) so I just book it in for a weekend - or if I can squeeze it in during the week around work / childcare. Sadly my DC have activities in the evening so I can't make use of the hairdressers late night but weekends are ok.

If you have a DH./MIL who can look after the baby I would just book in to suit one of them looking after the baby - so easy when they are tiny as they only need feeding/ changing and not taking anywhere so you can just work around the adults' schedules!!

Mobile hairdresser. Last got my hair n beauty done at 37+4. Waters went after the hair was done!

Sparrowlegs248 · 08/11/2015 04:04

I had my hair done when ds ws 11 weeks. Fed and changed him, dsis came with me then took him for a walk in the pram while i was having my hair done. Its only an hour.

Mouthfulofquiz · 08/11/2015 04:33

I never took mine with me - and probably wouldn't now after one precious relaxing appointment was ruined by being talked at by another customer's child of about 4 for about 40 minutes waiting for the colour to 'set'. I kept looking over at her mum, to try and catch her eye - and she was too busy chatting on her phone! I couldn't decide if I was being unreasonable by choosing a hairdressers to relax in so didn't cause a scene. It wasn't a spa after all, but I was disappointed!!

FuckYouSiri · 08/11/2015 05:24

I just took the baby with me.

Fallout4fan · 08/11/2015 12:21

I still take my dd with me and she's 8yrs old now Grin

Narp · 08/11/2015 12:23

I get mine cut with scissors

Narp · 08/11/2015 12:24

Our salon allows small babies, and I've often seen mothers breastfeeding
