I just need traffic - dd age 3 just put 2 fingers on the hob- she has got little blisters the size of her fingerprint on these two. Her hand is submerged in icy water but she has been screaming and crying for 45 mins. I can't get her to cuddle me, eat even a bit of junk, watch peppa, she's just screaming in shock and probably pain.
I've got a baby ds I can't get hold of dh and my mum is at the cinema. Somebody help me I'm panicking about her and I don't know what to do

I second the cling film around the fingers. I did exactly the same thing as your dd - put my fingers on a lit hob to check if it was on or not and the cling film (plastic bag in my case cos I didn't have any) wrapped tightly round completely and immediately eliminated the pain!

I did however wake myself up in the night by scratching my face with plastic bag fingers and jumping out of bed in fright because I thought my fingers had turned to plastic.

Op please don't blame yourself or feel like a bad mum. When I was 7 I poured a kettle of boiling water over my arm giving myself 2nd degree burns but I was left with no scar or damage at all, you would never know anything happened.

They will take care of her At a&we and she will be fine

How is she now OP? Hope you are both OK.

Thanks so much everyone for giving your time for advice yesterday. Dh got home quickly and I took dd to A and E - she calmed down when she saw him a bit. They saw her quickly, said id done the right things and they just dressed it as burns are not deep and said to have it checked over with gp in a week. It was such an awful shock and I felt so bad that I hadn't taken better care, but I see from all your stories that accidents happen and she is chipper this morning and stuffing her face with Cheerios as as special treat!

Oh that's good to read your update this morning waiting
Great to hear she's doing so well
Well done to you for getting it in water and then asking for advice etc. Flowers

thanks for update, good news. If you get through childhood without an A and E trip you are doing very well!!

can I suggest a first aid course too, they don't take long and you can often get them cheap or even free. An essential life skill for everyone.

See, you're a good mum!
Accidents happen, and you got it sorted promptly :) :) :)

Glad she's okay OP. DS (2) pulled a hot cup of tea onto himself earlier in the year. Was bloody horrific and luckily he only had superficial burns on his arm (had a long sleeved top on) and it looked a lot worse than it was. He had to have a bandage from armpit to wrist for a week, with regular cleans and redressing but It healed very quickly and now you can't see anything. DH & I felt absolutely awful for so long but it happened so quickly....and now DS won't go near a mug!!
