AIBU?

To think I have been conned!

I brought some (very cheap) Ralph Lauren clothing from a website that said it was an outlet. I paid then on my statement it shows as Beijing and I have had no shipping info (only ordered 40 hours ago). I had a confirmation email from some place called "win". Have I been stupidly conned?!

Oh FFS

the OP didn't realise it was fake at the time. She realised it might be on examining her statement later and on receiving no shipping information, plus a strange order confirmation.

What has she done to deserve being called 'dishonest'?

Now I remember why I had AIBU hidden...damn 'trending' for sending me here

Flag it with your credit card company as a fraud query so they can investigate. My bank ring me to confirm transactions if there is any 'strange' transaction on my account.

Must say I also agree with Constance

OP was presumably not buying from a reputable Ralph Lauren retailer, getting the goods at a heavily discounted price and didnt for a second think - hang on, is this counterfeit? If it seems too good to be true . . .

So you wouldn't buy anything from a site saying it was a Smeg, or Barbour outlet? Such sites do exist and among them are the genuine article.

It can be hard to discriminate.

Constance you sound awful. Especially with the spelling /grammar correction at the end. Does that make you feel really superior that you know the correct words to use? Clever girl!

I got conned with a similar sort of thing, cheap converse. Ordered 2 pairs, took ages to get anything arrived from China. Not even the styles I ordered and random sizes. I was able to claim via chargeback as I used debit card. If you did the same you'll need to wait, prove you've made reasonable steps to ask for refunds and ask for goods to be collected (if you've received them at all!), then ask your bank for the relevant forms, submit evidence such as emails etc and then they approach the recipients bank and ask for the money back.

I am very tech savvy but the website was very believeable. If in doubt use scamadviser to find risk factors etc.

Hope you get your money back.

This is the link www.ralphlaurenpololine.com/

Classy site.......Clearly genuine.

Don't worry at all OP. I'm sure Ralph himself will be delivering your goods personally.

I bought some boots recently which turned out to be shipped from abroad ( very, very hidden in the small print). I was pleased with the boots but less pleased with the fact that I had to pay a customs fee before they were released for delivery to me.

Hope you don't have that in addition to crap fakes, OP.

Bought lots of stuff from China. Good value and arrives faster than local.
Amazed at the world we live in.

I think this sentence from the link you posted is a bit of a giveaway tbh

"Welcome To Our Ralph Lauren Online Outlet Store. For lawful rights and interests of extensive consumer of guarantee, our company ensures that what be sold a product is genuine quality products without exception. Please Enjoy Your Shopping . 100% Imported cotton."

Unless maybe they are speaking pirate - what be sold ooh arr

I think the real Ralph Lauren site probably has a slightly better standard of English

Because stealing photo's from genuine sites is not really a thing.

And screen & photo resolution is of course sharp enough to be able to say for certain that its definitely the real deal.

Its just the English that's a bit dodgy but what's the big deal about that ?

After all brought/ bought, sentence construction, grammar all unimportant. What really matters is having a logo.

It's not hard to discriminate, really. That site is riddled with poor spelling, and badly translated language. (Welcome To Our Ralph Lauren Online Outlet Store. For lawful rights and interests of extensive consumer of guarantee, our company ensures that what be sold a product is genuine quality products without exception.) It's hard not to notice.

Never mind that it's selling so called designer items for less than 1/10th of the regular price, and its a free-site built page, and the first person language "If you're unhappy for any reason contact ME etc", "I never disclose your private information".

Also, pretty sure Ralph Lauren or other legit retailers don't accept payments via Western Union!

Lesson learned, anyway. For OP, and anyone else looking at this, have a closer look at a site before you give them any details. Scammers aren't generally very good at the details and give themselves away a hundred times over. If in doubt, don't pay.

What it means is that the website is owned by someone in the Shijingshan District of Beijing. It is not likely to be a genuine outlet of Ralph Lauren.

If you type whois i.e. who is into Google you will find websites where you can search to see who owns a domain name / website. If you get a website address you don't know or are suspicious about its another route to check out the site. If you'd known that the site was based in China I assume you wouldn't have made the purchase.
