Only ever see them on MN. Does anyone actually use these words in RL?

My mum uses vile - always screws her face up as she says it and always about someone rather something. I cannot stand the word because I will always hear her over sensitive judgement in it.

Love Vulgar.
Might start using it.
Vulgar.
Yes, liking that. Will start dropping it into conversation every now and then whenever I can

MitzyLeFrouf · 28/10/2015 15:06

I say 'vile' as I imagine someone like Celia Johnson would have said it.

InTheBox · 28/10/2015 15:06

I don't often get the chance to use those words in RL but I do love them.

Another under used word is 'uncouth' hardly ever get to use that but would welcome an opportunity to.

Pipbin · 28/10/2015 15:07

I prefer gauche to vulgar.

Grabby is only ever used on MN.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 28/10/2015 15:09

I use vile and vulgar....I do like V words though, I adore vexed.

Crass however, is very American imo. Quite a frightful word.

I have noticed that egregious is making a comeback. Heard it on the radio the other day, and I only listen to Radio2 cos I cannot work the kitchen radio and get anything else.

Wishful80smontage · 28/10/2015 15:09

Yes use all 3 I must be a judgey madam :)
Dh said crass yesterday about something he'd read so its not just me :)

MitzyLeFrouf · 28/10/2015 15:10

Vexatious is great too.

Optimist1 · 28/10/2015 15:11

I've always used all three (with a particular fondness for vile). A word I have assimilated from MN is creepy, as in "Minions are creepy little bastards things".

DickDewy · 28/10/2015 15:12

I use them all. I am very poncetastic.

They're all quite normal words. I probably don't say crass a lot, but I do use it from time to time.

Philoslothy · 28/10/2015 15:12

We use vulgar to describe ourselves with great amusement.

I use vile sometimes. Rarely if ever use crass

SheHasAWildHeart · 28/10/2015 15:20

And "furious" - a word too quickly used on MN. And sometimes they're so furious they're physically shaking.

FlowersAndShit · 28/10/2015 15:29

I am discusted Grin

CanadianJohn · 28/10/2015 15:30

I use lots of words - nothing is too obscure or pretentious. "Supercilious" is a nice, under-used word.

CainInThePunting · 28/10/2015 15:32

I use all three, vile and crass more so than vulgar.

Should I also be Clutching My Pearls?

Knottyknitter · 28/10/2015 15:32

Vulgar I use regularly, if not frequently. In our family's context it is applied to an overly fattening/extravagant dessert with (usually) far more whipped cream than would be decent eg "vulgar Swiss roll"

Narp · 28/10/2015 15:32

I say vile and crass.

I may have said vulgar in a sort of Hyacinth Bouquet way.

Like MRs DeVereI love using the broadest range of vocabulary possible, and I have an Essex accent

DamnBamboo · 28/10/2015 15:33

Yes I do!

TheAnimatedRemainsOfMaryz · 28/10/2015 15:39

I prefer revolting. I find many things/people/situations can be revolting and it saves me from thinking of the correct adjective.

I should use abhorrent, I prefer that (but I'm not sure exactly what it means so I don't).

As an aside, does anyone know why googling "revolting" brings up lots of links to "revolting cocks" and would anyone like to click on one of them for me just to let me know what they are

MitzyLeFrouf · 28/10/2015 15:40

I also like to get poncey with the quotes. I quote Pride and Prejudice a lot and am very fond of 'Are the shades of XXXXX (add location of choice) to be thus polluted'.

I've also found myself Wodehousing a lot recently and calling things a 'rum do'.

Fatmomma99 · 28/10/2015 15:46

I use all sorts of words and flowerly language. Some if it deeply vile - I like to swear a lot, and some of it from a well-read childhood (I read Chalet School, so have a whole host of vocabulary).

Is MN trying to limit my vocab? Shame on you - I will use the words I choose!

GwynethPaltrowIamNot · 28/10/2015 15:47

I use all of them regularly
