To ask my colleague to not sneeze in his bare hands, then wipe on trousers

Ive probabably caught this big from him that has kept me off work for the last few days a d cost me hundreds. He sneezes in is bare hands, doesn't wash them, just wipes on trousers and then just carries on working. We have to share the same equipment and I think he's hygiene is not acceptable.

Aibu to ask him to carry tissue to sneeze into and to wash his hands if he does sneeze into them to?

Anti-bacterial gel or wipes won't protect against a cold - a cold is a virus! You're better off washing your hands with soap and water.

Why on earth does anyone think using antibac(terial) spray or wipes will kill viruses?

It just gives you a false sense of security.

Sounds like the problem is the hands rather than the trousers then? I think it would be ok to ask him not to sneeze into his hands given that he's using them on your shared equipment, but leave the trousers out of it. That's vile, but at the end of the day if he wants snot on his clothes that's his call not yours.

lieselvontwat · 23/10/2015 09:54

Actually if anything you probably want him to wipe his hands more thoroughly on his trousers!

reni2 · 23/10/2015 10:40

Maybe give him some antibac trousers Grin

BillyBullshitter · 23/10/2015 10:50

Sounds like a vile twat.

Next time he does it, stare open mouthed and say loudly "Did you actually just do that? Did you actually just wipe your sneeze on your trousers? My daughter/son has better hygiene than that".

Then dramatically spray anti-bacterial spray around and wipe everything within a meter radius of him.

Why would you want to publicallu humiliate a grown man? If anyone on here was spoken to like that by a colleague we'd be telling them what a massive insensitive wanker he is.

If anyone spoke to me like that in the workplace id speak to their manager about it.
