to be gutted that term finishes on the 23rd December?

The Nativity Play is on Tuesday 22nd. I was just going to keep DD off the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday but she'd be gutted to miss the play.

I really think the 23rd of December is ridiculous. That's 9 and a half weeks after half term, with no holidays or inservice days.

This is my PFB so a shock to the system! She was so tired at half term it took the whole weekend before I had my girl back. Finishing on the 23rd seems a sure-fire way to have a grumpy, overtired 5 year old on Christmas Day!

Schools just went back today here. So a week and a half off, then finish on 23rd.

Oh Laffy you need a hobby dear. Angry about Scotland being mentioned as a whole then blantantly trying to goad me. It just looks rather pathetic.

shrunkenhead · 21/10/2015 22:31

Ours finish on the 18th which is a bit early for me! Cue too much giddyness. I know when my first pfb started school she really felt it and would regularly fall asleep on the sofa and need to be woken for tea but now she's older she enjoys school and and all the seasonal activities at this time of year.
Your little one does seem to be finishing later than most but it would be a shame for them to miss out on the fun and games of the last few days of the term. And you don't want it to impact on your child's attendance record as that would be a real shame.

BrianCoxReborn · 21/10/2015 22:32

Stop goading, laffy. I don't understand why you're trying to derail the thread.

Bizarre.

anyway, poor teachers having to work so late. So saying there's plenty of others who have to work that day but I suppose they don't have 30+ manic children to entertain Grin

5madthings · 21/10/2015 22:34

My lot have broken up for Oct half term today, they go back 2nd Nov so have a week and a half off that is because our lea put inset days together at start of half term, then break up the 18th Dec.

ForChina · 21/10/2015 22:35

Oh I think that's much better. Mine finish on about 11th December and it's a huge drag waiting for Christmas. They have all the Christmas excitement, nativity etc at school and then the holidays start and it's just so much waiting for them. I hate it!

pebbletime · 21/10/2015 22:40

18th and 6th here too.

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 21/10/2015 22:41

I'm in Scotland. I teach and finish on the 23rd at noon. My kids are in a different council and finish on the 19th. I'm ok with it. I'd rather have a few days after they go back on my own to sort my head and my
house!

And I always say I'm from Scotland as I don't want anyone to know where I live and work. Learned the hard way

pebbletime · 21/10/2015 22:52

laffy - let it go, let it go....

Verypissedoffwife · 21/10/2015 22:53

Aww I'd be disappointed too. I think mine all finish the Friday before. I'm working up until the 23rd but my works flexible so I can still take time out to do Christmassy stuff with the kids. I think the build up is the best part of Christmas.

laffymeal · 21/10/2015 22:54

...already did pebble Grin

laffymeal · 21/10/2015 22:56

I finish at noon on 22nd. Makes for a long term but I prefer a late finish at Christmas as it seems to make it more special.

WhatamessIgotinto · 21/10/2015 22:57

laffy I can't for the life of me see why you're trying to get a rise out of Paul, it seems a bit odd.

laffymeal · 21/10/2015 22:59

Er, why are you still banging on about it, I've. "let it go" already.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 21/10/2015 23:00

Bloody hell. Someone needs to get a grip. I have form? Nope. You seem quite determined to be nasty or attempt to embarrass/humiliate me on here. Bringing up previous, completely unrelated posts just to try and mock me is not cool. It's schoolyard bullying tactics. Enjoy your evening laffy I'm sure you'll find plenty other people to goad.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 21/10/2015 23:03

I've just checked, DD finished on 18th. 23rd is really late IMHO.

merrymouse · 21/10/2015 23:03

Think of it as getting to celebrate the full 12 days of Christmas.

Not wounded, nor did I say I was being bullied. I'm not in a state, I responded to your posts. Nice attempt to make me out like the odd one though.

The fact you seem to think I should hide your posts is ridiculous. You clearly have an issue with me (and I'm not the only one to notice) so perhaps just stop behaving in a bitchy manner?

Thefuckinggrinch · 21/10/2015 23:09

Mine finish on the Friday 18th which is about average here (NW England) Usually it's between 17th and 21st depending how the days fall. I would stress if it was as late as 23rd tbh just because they are so knackered the first 2-3 days after they finish, especially my youngest.
