Work should buy me a stand up desk

They are really digging their heals about this. It costs maybe 400 that they can detuct against tax and they would of paid a 5 figure amount to an employment agency to requit me.

I don't ask for much at work, I've bought in my own special keyboard and mouse and my training has all been done locally the last few years so saved many times the cost of the desk on hotel and transport expenses.

The company is doing very well and not short of money.

I'm kind of taking offence that they don't want to make this small investment too make my working life better. Aibu?

The OP has never said she's on a six figure salary, by the way

On another thread she's said she earns £150K per year.

"I find boiled haddock very tasty, I can cook it in the office microwave"

We had that. HR had to have a word. Grin

"my feng shui counsellor said that I should move onto your desk"
Believe it or not, we had a version of this. Somebody rearranged a colleague's desk for 'feng shui' reasons. She was not happy.

On another thread she's said she earns £150K per year.
Ah, I haven't read her others.

It is mandatory to offer staff sit/stand desks in Denmark.

I think they are great!

Banhan · 22/10/2015 09:23

The op didn't say she earnt 6 figures others made that up and just searched and nowhere has she ever said she earns 150k. So she is owed an apology.

It is standard practice in many forward thinking places to give people the option of an adjustable sit stand desk. So I don't see the issue. People fighting for better working conditions should be applauded.

Marue / OP implies here that she either earns 50k or 150k.

Bloody hell, I'd like a low responsibility not important job like that.

Oh FGS we're not in Bangladesh! "Fighting for better working conditions" in this country generally involves an assessment by occupational health, for one thing to ensure that the right resources are targeted to the right recipients, not meeting any immediate whim that an employee may or may not have like some spoilt child demanding attention.

I work in a university and a member of our academic staff wanted a stand up desk. The request wasn't approved because she had no medical issues so she bought her own.
