To not pud dd in a handed down sweater?

We get loads of nice clothes handed on to dd. she loves getting a new bagful each season. She wears them (they are often pretty new!)

We also buy things from charity shops. No problems at all for pre-worn clothes.

But in the bag we got this week, there was a new sweater. Grey. Nice and thick. And fluffy. Looked perfect, until I turned it the right way round.

It has 1D plastered ALL OVER the front Hmm

Should she wear it in the winter? Under a coat?
She is only 2, and can't read!

(It's a bigger size, maybe 6/7, so was obviously given as donor won't be wearing it in the future!)

Why don't you give it to charity? By the time your DD is old enough for it, 1D may not even exist and if you don't like it now you are unlikely to have changed your mind by then. No shame in not using the odd thing you are given. Plus a little 6 year old somewhere might be delighted with it and actually get some wear from it.

Branleuse · 20/10/2015 09:18

well its 4 sizes too big, so just pass it on.

NinaSimoneful · 20/10/2015 09:19

Put it up in your attic. One Direction are circling the drain and one day 1D merchandise will be worth MEGA bucks!!

BondJayneBond · 20/10/2015 09:22

Surely if it's a size 6/7 it'll be far too big for your DD now? If I was given a size 6/7 sweater for my 2 yr old DS2, it wouldn't be worn by him any time soon regardless of how lovely it was, because it just wouldn't fit him.

Why not just give it to a charity shop so it can be used by a child who'll actually fit it?

highlighta · 20/10/2015 09:25

Why don't you just worry yourself about this in 4 years time when it will actually fit her......

Helmetbymidnight · 20/10/2015 09:34

The problem is not that its a hand-me-down but that it's One Direction and massive.

Therefore there is no problem. Get rid of it!!

Meandyou150 · 20/10/2015 09:34

She can't wear it anyway as it wouldn't fit?!?! So what's the problem?!???

MidnightRed · 20/10/2015 09:40

Surely you wouldn't put your DD in anything 4 sizes too big? So the fact it has 1D plastered on it is beside the point really. Send it to the charity shop.

AnonymousBird · 20/10/2015 09:43

Biscuit.
How have you expended any brain cells thinking about that, let alone worrying about it and starting a thread!!!

Heavens!

Quornmakesmefart · 20/10/2015 09:43

I don't get it - am I missing something?

MrsJayy · 20/10/2015 09:46

She is 2 its a 6/7 are you going to tie it round her knees to make it fit ?

specialsubject · 20/10/2015 09:47

give it to a charity shop. Who would want their kid wearing a sweater with a picture of a group of talentless kiddy-drunks?

MrsJayy · 20/10/2015 09:52

If somebody has given you a bag of clothes that had a jumper thats to big be careful they are not using you as a dumping ground for their stuff you are not obligated to put anything on your dd because somebody has given you a bag of clothes

IsabellaofFrance · 20/10/2015 09:56

Is she some kind of Giant toddler that is going to fit in this now.

I don't get MN just lately.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 20/10/2015 10:04

She is tall enough to wear it! She's almost 3, but gets mistaken for 5 until she opens her mouth...

It's in the charity bag now. Along with most of the age 2-3 stuff that she can't wear any more.

I wondered if that was what this is about, it is kind of people to offer bags of clothes i loved it when my dds were little was just amongst family but please be careful of getting it dumped on you if its not right chuck it really its fine

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 20/10/2015 10:13

Yes. You are right!

I am very tired as dd has been awake with a sore ear all night.

Off to the doc when she wakes up. In the nice pair of donated jeans that she loves!

Some of the others will be good as nursery clothes. Some will be passed on to somebody 'more suitable'.

I was just disappointed, as I thought it was a great sweater until I saw the size/printing!

My kids wear handmedowns. We are very strict about what we keep. Lots never make it to the kids drawers but quickly go to other friends/charity/rag collection.

TheGruffaloFish · 20/10/2015 10:21

Send it to nursery as spare clothes!

It may not be the best jumper ever, but just let her live while she's young. Little things don't matter.

One way or another you & I know one day you will have no control over what she wears.

I bet she has a nice smile and that's what makes her beautiful.

Just did a very ungainly snort at Givemestrength there.
