AIBU?

To not pud dd in a handed down sweater?

We get loads of nice clothes handed on to dd. she loves getting a new bagful each season. She wears them (they are often pretty new!)

We also buy things from charity shops. No problems at all for pre-worn clothes.

But in the bag we got this week, there was a new sweater. Grey. Nice and thick. And fluffy. Looked perfect, until I turned it the right way round.

It has 1D plastered ALL OVER the front Hmm

Should she wear it in the winter? Under a coat?
She is only 2, and can't read!

(It's a bigger size, maybe 6/7, so was obviously given as donor won't be wearing it in the future!)

Your thread title doesn't match up with your OP Confused

If you meant, "AIBU to not put my DD in a 1D jumper that's too big for her anyway"

Then YANBU

Why, if its a good jumper and you want to keep it, just let her wear it. I am sure that if you search my posts you will see one regarding what my teenager wanted to wear leaving the house. It was far worse than a jumper with 1D written on the front of it.

Can you pick off the logo if that's what's bothering you, or sew a bunny or something over it? Wink

I love a good hand me-down but I'm becoming quite militant about disposing quickly of stuff we are never going to use.

YANBU to be disappointed or not to keep it OP.

MrsJ, well being completely clueless in the needlework department, I wouldn't either, but seeing that OP posted about this, she must be quite torn about parting with it. Or it would have been in that bag before she press enter....

Or, OP, dd could wear it for Halloween.........Wink 1D are pretty scary aren't they? Grin

My youngest dd is the youngest girl of the family and i was having bags dumped on me you do need to go through them and sort them out it can be a pita and you dont want to be ungrateful as its free clothes but i had to ask if there was anybody else they could pass on to just feel free to pass some elsewhere as so much was being wasted.

Well, Why, in a nutshell (and take note as you will have this to come one day hehe ) she wanted to wear as little as possible, and actually go out dressed like that. And to top it all off, they were too small so showed every crease line in her body, I have no idea how she thought she could move, let alone go to school dressed like that for the day.........

But she thought she looked great.... Wink

So while she would like to wear a big baggy jumper, enjoy it whilst it lasts..... Grin

Anything we get given which I'm not keen on my dc wearing goes in the preschool pile (my sister had a penchant for a lot of animal prints for her girls when younger). That way they get to keep the clothes I like and can paint/glue/get as messy as they like. And if I have to bin it, oh well. It means I've saved their good stuff for out of school.

I guess we all used to be teens once. Many moons ago!

Ds is almost a teen. Maybe once he starts going out a bit more, he might put some clothes out for the wash?

Dd probably won't wear the sweater as it isn't pink. Or green.

Sure there will be a 6 year old out there who would like it!

Doubtful Why. Have a 16 year old ds too, so don't expect a miracle to happen soon Grin. He has started to wash his face in the morning now though, so there is some hope........

This thread actually got me thinking..... my dd when she was about 2 or so, claimed a grey fleece jumper that belonged to her dad, and she slept with it every night. It was the most god awful ugly thing, and I was pleased that dh never got to wear it anymore as it was claimed as hers. It disappeared a few years ago, but she slept with it for a long time. its was nice and soft but it was seriously fugly.....

My dd is currently asleep in the car, cuddled up to her daddy's t-shirt!
I think she likes the 'daddy smell'.
