to think that the pictures (pregnant woman with fishtail plait, woman in rollers shaving, dog covered in spaghetti etc) are the single most annoying thing about Mumsnet?

I know there's lots of things we whinge and complain about, but this by FAR the worst, isn't it? Surely?

fish tail plaits woman makes me want to poke her in the cheeks so she spits that water out. Grrrr.

leelteloo · 19/10/2015 21:30

Ok now seen these pics.. There are no words...except thank fuck they are not on the app!

Mintyy · 19/10/2015 21:30

Yes toffeepenny! I have never knowingly clicked on one of those talk topics either, and yet I've seen those images fecking thousands of times.

OP posts:
coffeeisnectar · 19/10/2015 21:33

I can't see them.

I do, however, have an ad for "women with sensitive bladder issues" at the top.

WorraLiberty · 19/10/2015 21:39

I think the education one is the worst.

They're using an eccentric, geeky looking child with a 1950s hair do, a bow tie and a knitted tank top, to advertise the benefits of learning.

This is an image schools have been trying to shake off for years.

No kid would ever aspire to look like that little boy....not even that little boy himself!

What's wrong with using 'normal' looking kids, when it comes to trying to get the image of intelligence across?

Mintyy · 19/10/2015 21:39

I think you might expect to be irritated to distraction by adverts on the site, not by stupid glitches that Mumsnet could presumably fix pretty easily themselves.

OP posts:
BrendaandEddie · 19/10/2015 21:40

its like when Newspapers use pics of kids with their hands up

A skilled teacher rarely does hands up these days

Mintyy · 19/10/2015 21:40

I'm not actually fussed about the style of the photos. Just that they keep randomly appearing!

OP posts:
HoneyDragon · 20/10/2015 00:12

And a sensible teacher never ever does hands up after they previously spent two hours running up and down the a rugby pitch then closeting themselves back in a polyester blazer.

lordStrange · 20/10/2015 00:19

They are awful. They are rollovers so not strictly random. But once the cursor has popped one they are a bugger to get rid of. I sit and swish about like a fecking loon. Why are they all sort of bloaty Confused ?

doroph0ne · 20/10/2015 08:28

Awful awful awful

I'm haunted by the exploding pregnant woman one but thought it was just because i'm such a klutz with the cursor

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 20/10/2015 08:35

I agree I am fed up of them getting in my way every time I scroll. wish they would make them clicky links rather than revealing at the hint of a mouse nearby.

I dislike them too. I'm not a parent, so I appreciate that my opinion is irrelevant here, but definitely heartened to see that others agree that they're offputting and kind of patronising.

Yanbu. I hate them too. Especially the 'Work' woman. Argh.

SquirrelledAway · 20/10/2015 10:48

Why does the baby look like it's a reflection on the back of a spoon?

LemonBreeland · 20/10/2015 10:56

Pregnant woman has irritated me for years with her stupidd blown out cheeks. What is that all about?

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 20/10/2015 11:22

I quite like the "child" one but the others are pretty grim, pregnant lady looks like she is about to spew, and the Work and Style ones are a bit daft and I bet the troll types who sometimes visit love the "daft bint" stereotyping. How about getting someone more impressive-looking for the Work bit? Maybe even a STEM role-model? Smile

Aramynta · 20/10/2015 11:31

I never noticed them before, but now....

curse you OP Angry

Jux · 20/10/2015 11:41

Please do start a petition! Those pix are beyond awful and they're a bloody nuisance too.

I am appalled that MN makes such ghastly tweeness such a feature on its site.

BastardGoDarkly · 20/10/2015 11:44

I'll sign the petition! Although spaghetti dog doesn't piss me off as much as the others Hmm

Goingtobeawesome · 20/10/2015 11:47

Years ago I asked the point of the woman shaving. No reply.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 20/10/2015 17:03

In answer to everyone asking about the relevance of the woman shaving - I've always assumed she was supposed to have PCOS & therefore need to shave!

I've never thought of a plausible reason for pregnant woman gargling water though! Nor for a dog wearing spaghetti.

kesstrel · 20/10/2015 18:01

Every single one of those pictures makes me react with a visceral: Eugh! No matter how many times I see them. I hide them as quickly as possible. Am very puzzled by why Mumsnet thinks they are a good idea.
