to never wash my face?

I used to. Did the Clinique 3 step, cleanse, tone and moisturise. Then I had kids and ran out of time and cash!

I started using beauty wipes. Now I just use baby wipes! I clean my minimal make up off every night with a wipe then moisturise. That's it.

I occasionally swish round with a warm flannel when in the shower.

Is this bad? I know wipes are environmentally not great but aside from this? Friends and ladies on beauty counters try and sell me lotions and potions....my skin looks fine.

Sounds grand, I'm the same. My face hasn't fallen off yet.

Senpai · 15/10/2015 19:45

I just wash with water. Soap dries my face off. My skin is clear 95% of the time.

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/10/2015 19:46

In my head a baby wipe is more expensive and worse than a cleanser or wash. I just use a foamy wash and moisturize. You don't need all the unguents and potions but why wipes?

spnfan · 15/10/2015 19:47

I never wash my face. I hate water on my face, wigs me out, and I'm often complimented on my good skin. Grin

poocatcherchampion · 15/10/2015 19:48

I use water and my hands.

I would never put a baby wipe anywhere near my face.

Toraleistripe · 15/10/2015 19:50

Why is a wipe worse. Worse than what? I haven't got an issue with cleansers etc just can't be arsed messing around with stuff. Wipes are quick. I may just use a warm wet flannel now though.

What is a foaming cleanser? Who makes them?

I never wash my face with soap. I use micellar water these days. My skin isn't as dry and it saves me time.

Mintyy · 15/10/2015 19:52

"I know wipes are environmentally not great but aside from this?"

Why don't you change your habits so that you don't have to use wipes at all?

Toraleistripe · 15/10/2015 19:53

If you just use water how do you get your mascara off?

Ex-beauty therapist here Smile most skin care products are made so that with use your skin either produces more sebum than normal or not enough sebum. It's how they get the money out of you. Plain water with a light moisturiser only if needed. First week of doing facials we were taught what to say to clients depending on skin type to make them keep coming back.

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/10/2015 19:55

Lots of people make them. I use Lancome, which sounds expensive but I use the most tiny amount. It's just liquid soap for your face.

A wipe is worse because you are throwing something away, when you could just use a flannel or your hands. Also, they can contain: alcohol, perfume, chlorine, dioxin. Depending on the brand.

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 15/10/2015 19:56

I use a baby wipe to take off my minimal make-up then wash and moisturise. Yes the washing takes a bit longer, but only a few minutes. Its also not expensive. Facewashes can be very cheap nowadays. Its not all clinique etc. I use a Nivea one ATM that was on offer when I bought it.

RoseWithoutAThorn · 15/10/2015 19:57

The micellar water apparently attracts dirt and make up to the cotton pad. It removes my water proof mascara really easily. I love it since DD bought me some.

winchester1 · 15/10/2015 19:59

I haven't washed my face at all not even water for 20yrs (as a teen my dr told me to stop) my skin is always clear and I still need to carry ID for alcohol.

Fugghetaboutit · 15/10/2015 19:59

I don't either! Since having ds in too tired to bother at night. Wash with water and soap in the morning in shower.

RiceBurner · 15/10/2015 20:09

YANBU. Good idea even!

FYI, I stopped washing my face many yrs ago. (Can't remember when or even why. But must be about 10-20 yrs ago now.)

Before that, (when I was young), I washed daily with soap and sporadically used various cleansers, toners and those oily make-up removal pads. My skin was oily, and so-so.

My skin is much better now than it used to be when I used to clean it, so I am never going back to face cleaning ever!

Nb I wear only light make-up, (eg waterproof mascara/blusher), and don't use any foundation. Any make-up I put on just seems to wear off on its own before bedtime. (So no need to remove it.)

Might be harder for young skins, (which are prone to spots etc), but all skin is supposed to be self-cleaning, isn't it?

So maybe we shouldn't be putting so much 'stuff' on our faces, and just allow our face to self-clean whenever possible?

FluffyNinja · 15/10/2015 20:12

If you think about the harsh chemicals they put on baby wipes to keep them moist and stop them growing mould, you wouldn't put them near any skin, bum or face!

squoosh · 15/10/2015 20:17

Your thread title reminded me of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, she claims not to have washed her face in years. Think she used cold cream though.

I hate face wipes anywhere near my face and baby wipes are worse again. But if you're happy then you're happy. But I love my evening skincare routine, lovely and relaxing. A baby wipe and a bit of moisturiser sounds a bit joyless to me.

PacificMouse · 15/10/2015 20:19

I agree with loopy there. I was told something similar by a bio teacher at Uni saying that, as the creams only go to the surface of the skin, there is no way they can have all the benefits they are supposed to have. But the skiing then gets 'unused' to produce the right amount of sebum so your skiing ends up feeling very dry.

I have never washed my face (water is fine and it gets dry otherwise), no moisturiser either. When I DID try to use some, my skin felt worse that wo!
And then when I stopped, it took me ages for my waking to get back to normal and feel comfortable again.

cosytoaster · 15/10/2015 20:19

I gave up most products recently as my skin was starting to look almost inflamed. Just use water and a basic moisturiser now, I wear very little make up and as a pp said it has worn off well before the evening. My skin is is starting to show signs of recovery.

BatteryOperatedBoyfriend · 15/10/2015 20:22

I use dove soap, I used to use Clarins foaming cleanser. Tried so so many other cleansers and the dove soap works the best. I then use Aveeno to moisturise.

CerseiLannistersEyebrow · 15/10/2015 20:23

I just use baby wipes too and have clear skin.

GobShites · 15/10/2015 20:25

I do exactly the same, I hardly ever wash my face, I just use wipes and I have very clear and soft skin.

Quietlifenotonyournelly · 15/10/2015 20:25

I just use water not soap as it dries my skin, if I wear makeup I use Clinique cleanser then rinse with water. I use moisturiser when I remember but at the moment it's almost never. I hardly ever have spots, even when I was a teenager and if I do it's usually when I'm on my period so hormonal.

Leavingsosoon · 15/10/2015 20:26

I'm not a massive fan of baby wipes (though will use facial wipes sometimes) but to each her own!
