To be sick of the English getting overexcited about plastic bag charges

When Wales has had it for four years and ours is all shops and paper bags as well and we just get on with it? And when it came in there weren't news stories about people stealing shopping baskets rather than pay the humongous amount of 5 pence for a bag! There are bigger issues people. Not just in the world but surely in your own life? Like what to have for dinner and why you never notice the tv remote is the other side of the room til after you've sat down. Get a grip!

Seriously some people moaning about being charged 5p for disposable bags need to have a word with themselves. Just pay a quid or two for a couple of carrier bags for life. Problem sorted. Just shows how some people prioritise 5p over the environment.

Moral of the thread do not request a plastic bag to carry your cigarettes home in Ireland.

Looks like we've got lots of opinions about charging for plastic bags from the Scots, the Welsh and the Irish that the English are getting grumpy about.

Let's be fair and change the subject.

Anyone been watching the rugby?

I worked in Asda when the charge for carriers came into Wales. Customers whinged about it for weeks. Particular highlights that stick in my mind were a bloke having me scan £200 worth of shopping then refusing to pay and walked out when we wouldn't give him free bags, being screamed at and called a fat cunt by a middle aged women, and another woman packing her items two at a time into the cheap pedal bin liners then kicking off when one or them split in the car park and we wouldn't replace her smashed bottle of cava.

Most customers moaned about it one way or another. Soon got used to it though as they had no choice.

The Welsh bloody moaned 4 years ago about it and still bloody do. At least the 5p in the UK is to Charity.
