Here for traffic. Can I ask, if you love your job, what do you do (role/industry/company even!)? I don't know a lot of people who like their jobs so would love to hear of some people that do! What is it about your job that you like?

I work in the Scotch whisky industry and love it, I get to visit all the distilleries all over the country. The people I meet are so passionate and love what they do. Plus I get to travel all over Scotland and view the amazing scenery.

HippyChickMama · 13/10/2015 22:53

A&E nurse. The money isn't great, it's both emotionally and physically demanding, the funding cuts and ever increasing volume of patients make it more difficult all the time. I still love it.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 13/10/2015 23:24

Thank you For everything you do Hippy. Both myself or my children have landed in the emergency room on a couple of occasions and the nurses were exceptional. You deserve way more credit than you get. Thanks

CafeHero · 13/10/2015 23:29

I make your coffee every morning.

It's not quite saving lives, but I love my little shop, and the people that come in everyday.
And I'm thankful everyday that my office has an espresso machine and fresh croissants...

DeepBlueLake · 13/10/2015 23:51

Am a family law solicitor, absolutely love it. Tis very demanding and stressful but I still enjoy it.

Sammy135 · 14/10/2015 00:06

I'm a research scientist at a university lab. I love my job, work on a disease that's the main cause of death where I live and it's great to think that one day my work may help improve treatment options. We also do a lot of teaching which j really enjoy. Sadly, we work on 3 year contracts and the chances of gaining tenure at a uni these days are slim, so I'm in the process of changing careers. Still in life sciences but a permanent contract. Just no more lab work unfortunately!

I own a fabric shop with over 1500 kinds of fabric and haberdashery under one roof. I get to spend all day choosing it, unwrapping it and stroking it. Sometime I even sew it too! I can have any pattern I want and sew with whatever takes my fancy. I own over 20 different sewing machines and overlockers as well and get to test drive some pretty fancy models.

The downside? I'm single and I meet zero men in my job.

GorgeousPie · 14/10/2015 00:16

Oncology nurse. Not in UK anymore but love it wherever I am. It's a great job.

GuiltyPleasure · 14/10/2015 00:18

Probation Officer in a women's prison. Challenging, frustrating & rewarding in equal measure, but generally I love it.

Fatmomma99 · 14/10/2015 00:25

I love my job, but don't want to say too much about it. I work in schools although not a teacher (now I sounds like a riddle!). The work is interesting and busy (both pluses) the school holidays are fab and a perk I don't think I'll ever stop appreciating. The money sucks. But I properly enjoy going to work!

RoseWithoutAThorn · 14/10/2015 00:29

You have my dream job!

DramaAlpaca · 14/10/2015 00:33

I also adore my job, but I don't talk about it on here so I'm not going to say exactly what I do. Just that it's a great combination of desk job & physical work, it's in a niche industry and although the money isn't great I find it very enjoyable, satisfying & rewarding.

HattieA · 14/10/2015 00:39

I'm a nurse but my first job was as a picture framer - I absolutely loved that job. Worked all the hours they could possibly give me.

VashtaNerada · 14/10/2015 00:49

I work for a charity and love it! It's hard work but I love feeling 100% committed to what I'm doing.

Philoslothy · 14/10/2015 01:04

I was a teacher and now miss it terribly. Young people are just great company, I laughed every single day and often thought to myself that I was lucky to get paid for talking to great kids about a topic that fasincinated me. I also loved having the holidays and the ability to manage my workload around the children to a certain extent.

shadowfax07 · 14/10/2015 01:16

Gorgeous, can I just thank you and all your colleagues for the job you do? Such a wonderful group of people, who's care and compassion shame many of those on general wards. Flowers

boobubsmum · 14/10/2015 01:22

I work part time so that I can have the children in the day, husband works mon-fri. I've recently started working behind a bar and I love love love it! The staff are great, the customers are fun, the pay is also great because of the awkward hours, and I work pretty much entirely only when DD1 is asleep, so she's not aware of me being gone (not so great for DD2) it also forces DH to look after DD2, where I had previously been working retail he'd find excuses to get his parents to come over and they'd inevitably end up doing the childcare whilst he did anything else he could find to do Hmm

HippyChickMama · 14/10/2015 07:46

Aw, thanks Annie but really, I'm lucky, it's an amazing job. But Cafehero you have my dream job! One day I would love to have my own coffee shop, if you tell me you're in a little town in Wales or Yorkshire I'll be really jealous!

vintagesewingmachine · 14/10/2015 08:29

Queenofthepirates - I have total job jealousy, that sounds fantastic. I am a Nurse Practitioner/Independent Prescriber in GP land. I used to love nursing but, after 20 years I am a bit ground down with it although it is still very rewarding.I am also a Midwife albeit a lapsed one. That was a job I adored and am seriously considering doing a return to practice course but friends who are still midwives tell a lot has changed. I am giving it serious thought, though!!

SheGotAllDaMoves · 14/10/2015 08:31

I'm a writer and a lecturer.

I love both parts of my life and they compliment one another perfectly.

DrDreReturns · 14/10/2015 09:45

Computer programmer. I mainly love it. Very little stress and you get to think a lot. I also don't have to go to many meetings Grin
Some projects are more interesting than others, and I prefer some types of programming than others (e.g. love Android programming, not so keen on web pages). On the whole it's good though!

Hopefully · 14/10/2015 09:57

Personal stylist. Sounds really shallow, but actually it' incredibly rewarding helping people rediscover their self confidence and actually enjoy their clothes.

sltorres9 · 14/10/2015 12:20

I'm a fashion blogger, I've worked with big name companies such as boohoo.com, missguided, lynx, addidas. I've been to movie premieres through my job, been to Ibiza, Dallas, Cyprus, through my job ?? love it

Onsera3 · 14/10/2015 14:35

Liked being a teacher but too much stress. Loved being a school librarian.

sparechange · 14/10/2015 14:41

Head of PR for a big, (in)famous financial company.
I have a lovely team, I get involved in interesting work with very clever people, I get the opportunity to do lovely charity and volunteering work through work, I get to do a bit of interesting travel, I get well paid, I'm not stuck in the office for crazy hours.
I am on email 7 days a week and until 9pmish most nights, but at least I do it from the comfort of my sofa.
