to think you don't need an audience every time you go to toilet?

Just that.

Why do so many people on here allow their children to follow them into the toilet every single time they go?

Must admit, it can be amusing to take a toddler into the bathroom with you when you have explosive diarrhea - the look on the kids face when it all splatters out is priceless Smile

So come on, OP? Do you have kids? How old are they?

BrandNewAndImproved · 10/10/2015 17:46

I had two dc 17 months apart and I've never had an audience going to the toilet having been a sp/lp for almost ten years now.

But then I have lived in a small two bedroom same level flat the whole time and had a baby gate on the kitchen. I also used TV wisely and knew whenever I switched it on they would be google eyed until I came back and turned it off. So I don't judge everyones different and my dc have always been very independent.

I think any child that would dare to be in a room with me if I was not having a wee would be daring indeed and would never do it again.

Murfles · 10/10/2015 17:52

I had 4 under 5 so I got used to an audience. Even yet at work I often have children hammering on my toilet door "Mrs Murfles are you in there" Hmm. I have an open door policy to my office but I never bargained on the loo just off my office aspect.

lizzydrippingsghost · 10/10/2015 17:55

this thread reminds me of im a celebrity get me out of here, when steve davis was in the loo and a women (cant remember who) was having a moan about the camp and he said i loved to have a chat but im trying to have a shitGrinGrin

I find it pretty weird personally, but if you want your kids with you while you use the toilet or shower, then no harm done I guess Confused

It's certainly never something I have wanted though!

I do have a stair gate on the living room though so kids were safe and contained, and obviously as mentioned above it's pretty negligent to leave a newborn and toddler unsupervised together.

Snossidge · 10/10/2015 18:02

Does the number of kids make a difference Murfles? I only had 3 under 4 but still never had an audience...

Out toilets were upstairs at that time. All four were carted upstairs with me if DH wasn't in. The twins (youngest) never settled as they were premature so were on me a lot of the time. The elder two were toddling and I was always terrified they nose planted the flagstone floors. It's personal choice, but there was no way I was leaving them downstairs while I used the loo.
