Watched 'Swing'. Bing is on the swing and along comes Pando who wants a turn. Long story short, Pando takes advantage and won't come off the swing at the end of his go. But....stupid Padget keeps pushing him, even though it's Bing's turn. Why didn't she just stop fucking pushing?

AIBU to ban this drivel in our house? It makes me see red every single time!

Lunch is not a bing thing

futureme · 07/10/2015 06:28

I like bing! And topsy and Tim irritates me but I want their house.

I love how calmly flop deals with everything and it really is at the level of a toddler/prr Schooler.

I have noticed my daughter adopting some of the vocab though...

kungpopanda · 07/10/2015 06:41

the 'no holes barred' parenting docusoap that is Bing
Suddenly this all sounds a lot more interesting. (phones police)

Pobspits · 07/10/2015 07:21

The butterfly episode really pisses me off and I have to say 'Murder. It's a bing thing.' Every time. Dd unimpressed (by me, murderous Bing can do no wrong)

However I much prefer Bing to the hell that is Topsy and ducking Tim.

Pobspits · 07/10/2015 07:21

Fucking Tim not ducking Tim though he'd need to duck frequently if I were near him. Sanctimonious little shit.

I can't decide if topsy and tims mum is a terrible actress struggling to get across joy's super sacarine love for her offspring. Or if she is a genius and portraying joy as a tortured soul, caught in a loveless marriage to a man child faking all the enthusiasm and counting down till gin o'clock.

flanjabelle · 07/10/2015 07:40

Bing doesn't bother me.

Show me show me gives me the absolute rage. It's complete garbage and the presenters are awful. The worst thing is that its on early so before coffee and patience has kicked in and after dd has got me up at a silly time.

Show me show me. FUCK OFF.Angry

TheTravellingLemon · 07/10/2015 07:56

I remember that thread about the woman stealing the little boy's Bing. I was so Shock. What kind of woman takes a teddy from a child?

Lovely that Bing's daddy came on to here. It was shortly before they released their line of merchandise I think.

We now have a little Bing and a Flop here. DS loves them.

StarlingMurmuration · 07/10/2015 08:59

The butterfly episode really pisses me off and I have to say 'Murder. It's a bing thing.' Every time.

This amused me greatly.

WhatWouldFlopDo · 07/10/2015 09:04

Sometimes I look at DD when she's being an annoying little turd and think 'oh my god, she's Pando"

Emilyjane101 · 07/10/2015 09:11

Bing is soooo whingey, DS loves it but I cringe when it's on. Everything Bing says is "oh dear, or oh no, or I wanted it, or I lost it". Stop bloody moaning Bing! Even when he buys Sula a birthday present he is moaning for the rest of the afternoon as he decides he wanted the blooming wand! Ahhhh!

MrsP777x · 07/10/2015 09:20

Swashbuckle and Gigglebiz are the only programs on cbeebies I can actually sit and watch with DS without wanting to launch the tv through the window.

I'm sorry but Joy from T&T is only that happy due to these reasons IMO:

  1. she's shafting the postman.
  2. she is on high dose Valium
  3. she has an endless supply of Gin hidden under the kitchen sink
    Or maybe all 3!!
Aramynta · 07/10/2015 09:26

Fuck me, even Bing needs to be shot. Whining little bastard.

DriverSurpriseMe · 07/10/2015 10:02

I'll be honest here: I do love Bing. And my daughter adores it so much I can't begrudge how happy it makes her. I even bought her little Bing and Sula (because Sula's my favourite) cuddly toys for her birthday a few weeks ago.

I have so many questions about that society though. The adults are knitted, the children are animals, but there are pet dogs as well Confused

In the original books, Flop is merely Bing's toy who he imagines is alive. Shocker!

ShockShock

Like Woolly. I can't stand Tig. She's much worse than Bing.

Naty1 · 07/10/2015 10:49

I wouldnt mind bing, but the intentional wrong verbs make me very annoyed. I dont see the point.
There are other cbeebies programs that do this, but not ch5 etc.
We are also taking a Bing break.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 07/10/2015 11:20

Constant whinging - its a Bing thing.
So glad my eldest is too big for it now, Flops constant calmness always would me up.
But good news - all of Timmy Time is on Netflix now so my 18 month old has something to watch that he likes that isn't crap!

CigarsofthePharoahs · 07/10/2015 11:21

Would? Wound!

WhatstheT · 07/10/2015 12:56

Have you seen the one when Bing has a cold and instead of saying bless you or atchoo, his creepy minder makes this weird noise. That one really pisses me off.

Yes wtf was that!?!?

The only thing that doesn't raise my bloody pressure is Mr Bloom, and the Twirlywoos, anything else and I find myself grinding my teeth.

WhatstheT · 07/10/2015 12:56

Oh and RaaRaa! ARGH! hate it.

bingbunnydaddy · 07/10/2015 14:20

One Bing reader said back in 2003 of my Bing books, "Bing is The Ramones of toddler books"; like it was with The Ramones, there's bound to be a busted ear-drum now and then!

As lead writer of the contentious "Swing" ep (with team writers, script editors, producers, and directors all making adjustments, contributions, and omissions), I thought I'd join this thread.

When my daughter was a toddler, I remember the politics and protocols of the public swing frame were occasionally fierce and dramatic, with tension existing between parents/carers as well, who often struggled to remain civilised in the face of the slightest unfairness. Padget's continuing to push Pando when it was clear he was really taking the mickey wasn't in my script, but alas, Padget goofed and ended up super-clueless on screen. I suspect Flop was having big trouble keeping chill--I had to bite my tongue like that in a similar situation rather than open up a grown-up barney.

Sometimes I pity Padget...we conceived her as a relatively inexperienced guardian, a bit nice but dim, and decidedly less capable than the likes of Amma when it came to steering the challenging handful that is Pando. But maybe some of you will be glad to hear that Pando was toned down from the way he behaved in early drafts of the script--he was even worse! We learned early on that if we REALLY told it like it was in toddler life, some eps of Bing would end up unwatchably squabbly.

By all means, let er rip on Mumsnetit's good funbut please don't give up on Bing! He was brought into the world to lighten up what's mistakenly called "The Terrible Twos" (and Threes and Fours). They may not feel like golden years when your little ones (and some of the others' carers) are driving you crazy, but looking back on them, life was never as sweet and golden.

Hello hello
We've had a request to amend this thread title as it was agreed in the annals of time that if folk complained about the use of the C word in thread titles we would do this.

I'm not a fan of the c-word hence the euphemism though we do of course defend all of your rights to use it with merry abandon as long as it's not in anger.

Personally I am out of CBeebies land into the land of on demand (in more ways than one Grin) Peppa Pig so haven't got a clue who Pando is so am unable to comment on their status.

Additionally, usual MNHQ disclaimers about other TV programs apply

So just to let you know that's what we've done.
HTH
Thanks ever so.

bingbunnydaddy · 07/10/2015 14:50

Good idea...Pando may be a rascal, but he's not such a bad little fella when you get to know him.

DriverSurpriseMe · 07/10/2015 15:09

Thanks for the insight Ted (for it is you, right?). That genuinely made me laugh. I won't be able to watch Padget without thinking of her as a bit of a clueless wet blanket.

My daughter loves the original books and we have to spend AGES playing "spot the difference" with the pictures at the front and back of each book Grin
