My son summed this match up as foreigners vs women. It is indeed noteworthy when there's more than one woman out of eight competitors. Hope QM come back as a highest scoring loser, I liked them. Also liked the foreigners, though.

Never mind University Challenge, who's watching Only Connect? Do you think they show all the preliminary rounds - probably every other week there is a team that VC says have been on before but we don't remember them at all. Tonight, the Cluesmiths.

I went to the final of UC once. As audience! We won. It was a great day out. TV paid for the coaches and, I think, food. Always shocked me that "live", the teams sat in rows next to each other, on the same level. On TV then (no idea what it is like now) the teams were pictured one above the other. I am talking Bamber Gascoigne days.

I got a connection! My life is fulfilled.
