To have a kids party 10.30-12.30 on a Saturday morning?

It seems incredibly early, but its the Saturday before Christmas so (1) the venue is only open til 1 and (2) I figured people could then get on with the rest og their day and if they have christmas nights out etc theyll not be rushing home from a later party?

How old is the birthday boy/girl? I have a 2 year old and that time would be perfect for us.

BrendaandEddie · 01/10/2015 18:42

thats fine

milkingmachine1 · 01/10/2015 18:43

Personally I think that's a good time as it doesn't impact too much on the rest of your weekend.

HeyMicky · 01/10/2015 18:44

DD is going to a 4th birthday party on Saturday at that time. Perfect as far as I'm concerned - not too much time in anticipation, fills the morning, provides lunch, back in time for a nap.

BikeRunSki · 01/10/2015 18:44

That would have been fine at pre-school age. Now Saturday mornings are all about swimming lessons and sports!

rollmeover · 01/10/2015 18:47

Perfect time for young ones. Lunch is covered and it doesnt eat into nap time (if appropriate). Leaves rest of the day for family things.

Artandco · 01/10/2015 18:49

For us it would be too early so we would decline.
We usually always go out Friday night as a family and back late so the children sleep in until 9-10am.

As an aside do bare in mind if it's the weekend before Christmas lots of people will have already left for Xmas travel to family or abroad as schools already broken up

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/10/2015 18:49

fine with me. I've just booked one at 10 on a Saturday in the hope that it covers the mornings activity, won't affect any naps with baby brothers or sisters and eating at 11.30-12 won't mean their evening dinner plans are scuppered.

people will show up right??? Grin

Etak15 · 01/10/2015 18:51

I think that's fine - try and have the food near the end if you can though, we've been to one at this time and it was chicken nuggets and pizza at 10:30!

whatsagoodusername · 01/10/2015 18:51

We're going to one on Saturday that's 11-1, for a 5yo and 3yo. Seems like a perfectly reasonable time to me.

I personally prefer afternoons, but that's because I'm lazy and take forever to get out of the house on the weekend. But I know I am lazy. Everyone else seems to be out by 9am. Smile

SexNamesRFab · 01/10/2015 18:52

I've been to Agee parties that early and have had one myself at 11am -all fine.

PennyHasNoSurname · 01/10/2015 18:53

Ahh grand!

Yes, I imagine there will be the odd one who will have left to go away for Christmas, but hopefully not all.

Food last, bit of disco dancing and run around with balloons while everyone arrives, loads of party games, food. Booty Bag and cake to take away.

No chance of my DC going, Black Friday is the night before and that my annual night out. Tbh I go out 3 times a year so no way would I give it up unless vital.

I don't think I will be out of bed and nursing a hangover.

AwfulBeryl · 01/10/2015 18:56

It would be fine for us too, some Saturday's we will still be lounging in our pyjamas at that time but would be happy to get up and ready for a party. As long as the food was towards the end at 12 ish though.

AwfulBeryl · 01/10/2015 18:57

Sounds perfect to me, it doesn't take up too much of the weekend that way.

Prettyeyedpiratesmile · 01/10/2015 18:57

Great party time. Can have lunch and nap after or just get on with the rest of your day. Win win situation!

Fugghetaboutit · 01/10/2015 18:58

I'd love it if more people did early parties! Ds is full of beans and raring to go at that time.
The ones we go to are at either 12 (lunch/nap time) or 3pm (drive through traffic to get home after and rush to make dinner)

susannahmoodie · 01/10/2015 19:02

Incredibly early??!! My dcs are often up at 5.30am, weekend or not. By 10.30 I'm ready for lunch.....even 10am would be fine, and in fact I have been to plants of parties from 10-12.

HackerFucker22 · 01/10/2015 19:04

As long as you aren't loading the kids up on sugar it would be fine for me too.

Food at the end (lunchy type stuff) and cake to take away.

GladysTheGolem · 01/10/2015 19:04

Better than the 4-6pm party DS1 (3) was invited to last week

Fugghetaboutit · 01/10/2015 19:05

I would serve brunch - stacked pancakes with blueberries and raspberries and yoghurt/creme fraiche and loads of bacon!!

Lovelydiscusfish · 01/10/2015 19:05

This is the perfect time, in my opinion. Enjoy!

starlight2007 · 01/10/2015 19:10

Yep sounds perfectly fine

Mynameismummy · 01/10/2015 19:12

I think it's fine. You curse a bit when you receive such an invitation, but then realise that it won't take up an entire day of the weekend and cause problems for any other child/children that you have. Have fun!
