To have a kids party 10.30-12.30 on a Saturday morning?

It seems incredibly early, but its the Saturday before Christmas so (1) the venue is only open til 1 and (2) I figured people could then get on with the rest og their day and if they have christmas nights out etc theyll not be rushing home from a later party?

Ooooh I love the brunch idea. That sounds brilliant.

Ideal party time - doesnt cut into the middle of the day.

The weekend before Christmas nobody is going to want to do anything but drop and run because they will have shopping to do.

Make sure you have help aplenty in the form of relatives or friends of your own to wrangle the children. Don't depend on parents staying.

Hopefully the venue is a place that is not too bad for traffic, which will be far worse than normal on that weekend.

It's fine but be prepared for a lot of no replies.
Lots of people go away at Xmas or have family outings planned.

I prefer to get parties out of the way as early in the day as possible. Lessens the irritating questions of whether it's time for the party yet x 100.
Have been hungover at many a soft play but it's good to suffer a little, almost like a penance for my excesses. (Weird Catholic upbringing must've left it's mark!)

Yes, fine here too. And we have weekend parties close to Christmas and get mainly 'yes' replies.

Fugghetaboutit · 01/10/2015 19:35

Same. My ds was born on Christmas Day and we do his parties the week before and everyone always comes. We have to invite less people this year I think as it was too much last year!

I had my 3 year olds party last Saturday 10am-12pm and it was great. Most people arrived 10-10.30am, had entertainment 10.30-11.30am then half an hour for food before everyone left at 12pm. It worked out well as at that age a lot of them still nap after lunch, plus we all had the afternoon free to do other stuff.

We had DS's at a similar time on a Sunday- was great! Quasar, lunch, cake, piss off home. Most of his mates came- all left fed and knackered- parents had a quiet Sunday afternoon. He was 10!
