AIBU one year olds having happy meals

Somebody on my Facebook posted that their one year old was having their first happy meal. Which I suppose is not great for a one year old but I don't know the circumstances and I'm a new parent so not my place to judge. I haven't been in her position.
Just wondering would you give a baby that age a happy meal?
And AIBU for finding it a bit odd? I hadn't really considered them eating them before.

Start as you mean to go on. If you want your kids to eat shite,..start McDonalds as early as possible. Grin

MyNameIsRonnieFuckingPickering · 29/09/2015 12:52

Hilarious.

Gottagetmoving · 29/09/2015 12:56

Its funny isn't it?..When someone has a baby, they are worried sick about the right formula or breastfeeding. They sterilise everything and are careful that their baby is being given the best. Once they start solid food,..they let them have crap full of salt & sugar.
Just sayin..like. Grin

MyNameIsRonnieFuckingPickering · 29/09/2015 12:57

I really want 'just sayin' to be banned!

BathshebaDarkstone · 29/09/2015 12:59

YABU. DS had his first happy meal 9 days before his first birthday, on my birthday. DD was there too, and I deemed him old enough. I think as a rare treat it's fine. He was BLW, was I supposed to take sandwiches for him? I don't think McDonalds would have allowed that, by the way! Grin

jorahmormont · 29/09/2015 13:01

'Just sayin' is just another word for 'I'm a judgmental prick'.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 29/09/2015 13:04

Why the stupid passive aggressive smiley gotta?

Gottagetmoving · 29/09/2015 13:19

No, 'Just sayin' is being sarcastic, jorahmormont You just don't like someone disagreeing with what you find acceptable.

The smiley was just a grin, sharon If you think that is 'passive aggressive' you read too much into things. BTW, Using 'passive aggressive' accusations as an attack is pretty passive aggressive. Grin

I really can't get too worked up about McDs and don't get the angst.

It's just food. It's not even shit food, it's just carbs, protein, fats, sugar and salt in a formulation that some people get snobby about in the way they don't get snobby about things like rice cakes and Organix cheesy puffs. I mean, at least MaccyDs has some nutrition to it - if you're feeding your one year old rice cakes you might be as well feeding them the polystyrene box your double cheeseburger came in.

I'd be far more critical of people that don't feed their kids at all.

Noobylola · 17/02/2016 15:44

No way would I give that crap to my child. It's doesn't decompose because of all the preservatives they pump into it. It's literally full to the brim with salt, sugar and chemicals. An adult decides what they put into their body but a child eats what they are given.

CaptainCrunch · 17/02/2016 15:49

Why are you dragging up all these "helicopter parent/food issue" threads from years and years ago Noobylola?

Is this some new kind of arseholery trollery?

No I wouldn't. My little one has had chips from my meal a few times, but he's 2 so twice that age :P They really don't need it, and a full on happy meal is a bit much imo. No point judging though, people will feed their babies whatever they want :)

I gave my one year old happy meals. Was living ttemporary accommodation 100 miles from anyone I knew in a shared house with two men who just got out of prison and a mouldy non working kitchen. We spent a lot of time in McDonald's. From my experience, a one year old will eat about 5 chips and a bite of a burger its not gunna harm them at all.

Abbinob · 17/02/2016 16:16

Actually, he wasn't even one yet..

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 17/02/2016 16:18

DS3 has only just turned 1 and at this point I wouldn't buy him a happy meal. He does sneakily pinch some of his brothers' chips though sometimes! :)
When he's more towards 2 I'll buy him one.

CantWaitForWarmWeather · 17/02/2016 16:34

Shit.

Sorry, I've just realised Blush
