Snide comment from someone else. Wtf should i wear for a professional school drop off? I do live in my PJs and love it while I'm not working. Often have two pairs a day so its not dirty. Aibu to do this?

Clean and dressed appropriately nuts, pandarific.

laundryeverywhere · 25/09/2015 08:12

This thread is soooo conventional, man. Where have all the hippie types gone?

Notasinglefuckwasgiven · 25/09/2015 08:26

Christ it's all tans designer jeans and big blow dried hair at dds school run. I get scowls and tuts and " dyke " muttered due to my bus drivers uniform. Fuck 'em.

pandarific · 25/09/2015 08:39

LoseLooseLucy It's just amusing to me it's a source of so much outrage in Britain - and you're exactly right, it's the violation of 'appropriateness' that seems to get people so cross.

I think it's funny. My English OH was horrified by my nipping to our quiet corner shop in pj pants and a coat - really horrified. And when I told my Irish friends about his shock and horror, they were as bemused as I was.

NotMeUsNotIWe · 25/09/2015 09:26

Well panda I don't know what part of Ireland you're in but I and any of my family, colleagues, friends (all in Ireland) would have the same view on pyjama wearing for school run, going to the shops etc as many have expressed on here ie that it looks lazy and slovenly.

It was a real thing here about 4/5 years ago but not something I've seen much these days thankfully.

pandarific · 25/09/2015 09:48

It may just be me and my friends then that are not particularly bothered by such things. My mum often dropped us to school in a coat over pj pants on her days off - it's not like she was getting out of the car and wandering around town.

IMO it's only disrespectful to others etc if it's broad daylight, public place. That is odd. Early morning, nipping somewhere subtly with cost on - not odd at all = perfectly normal.

IMO OP is NBU at all, and it is a very silly thing to get worked up about.

pandarific · 25/09/2015 09:48

*coat

Theycallmemellowjello · 25/09/2015 10:02

Britain is far more permissive about this stuff than other countries -- imagine doing this in France, Germany or Italy! (People would stare and gossip.) Personally I would judge anyone outside in pyjamas hard

PuntasticUsername · 25/09/2015 10:24

DH has jogging bottoms for wearing at home. Won't wear other trousers inside the house, won't wear the jogging bottoms out of the house at all, as that would be Wrong. Even to the park. Means every single entry end exit to the house is punctuated by "I just need to go and change my trousers". Drives me to distraction (to be fair, not a long trip these days), especially when children need to be attended to and I end up doing it on my own as the trouser protocol must take priority.

curbyburr · 25/09/2015 10:26

Am I the only one who sleeps in the buff?

Notasinglefuckwasgiven · 25/09/2015 10:34

No I too sleep nekkid

Oldraver · 25/09/2015 10:34

Its not something I would do...I like to shower and put clean clothes on before I leave the house.

Yes showering too much isnt good for the skin but I wouldn't feel right getting out of a bed where I have sweated then putting on clothes and going out.

curby I dont sleep with nightwear...I may occasionally put pj's on if I'm having a lazy day, but they are not what I've slept in

What does he wear if he goes out jogging? Smile

Gruntfuttock · 25/09/2015 10:43

sproketmx "Why such a big issue? I've been down the pub the night n am half smashed. Went up farm to do mine n dds n dhs horses in a tottie wee lips dress n wellies"

What on earth is "a tottie wee lips dress"? Confused

insanityscatching · 25/09/2015 10:47

Have to admit I only realised when I got back this morning that I'd done the school run in slippers this morning. Not too worried as I only drop dd in the car park and never leave the car and never see anyone to speak to. I had though washed and dressed and tidied my hair so to anyone looking in I appeared respectable I suppose.
I wouldn't do a school run in pyjamas though mostly because I wash and dress before going downstairs when I get up.

Shock

Omg. I'm saving that question to ask him next time he's being a smartarse. It might actually break him. Heh heh heh.

insanityscatching · 25/09/2015 10:53

puntastic my adult ds is just the same. Gets up puts work clothes on, comes home puts joggers on, goes to the gym puts gym stuff on, comes home puts joggers on. Goes out puts a whole new outfit on even if only nipping to the shop/chippy etc. He is like a walking laundry, drives me mad occasionally.

Bottlecap · 25/09/2015 11:01

I would not step foot outside of the door in PJs.

Sunsoo · 25/09/2015 11:30

Do you the people who are disgusted think that wearing your pjs is something to regret on your deathbed? Does it hurt others?

No and no.

MYOB

Bottlecap · 25/09/2015 11:36

^I'm not sure I agree with this as a kind of decision-template.

LisbethSalandersLaptop · 25/09/2015 11:38

it does look lazy and slovenly, sorry there are no two ways round it.

LoseLooseLucy · 25/09/2015 11:40

MYOB

Nah, I'm judging alright. Smelly fuckers.

reni2 · 25/09/2015 11:45

There can be reasons for pj school runs, very new baby, recent operations or alcoholism as pps have mentioned. I know somebody suffering from depression, for her it is always a sign she is not coping if the pjs appear on the school run.

But emulating this look when well and after washing and with fresh pyjamas? Not for me.

Bottlecap · 25/09/2015 11:46

Beyond a certain age it's certainly embarrassing for kids if their parents are out in public in their PJs.

LisbethSalandersLaptop · 25/09/2015 11:47

nobody who was 'well' would do it, surely? If you are going to get dressed in clean trousers, why on earth would you choose PJs?
