I'm a bit pissed. I made the fatal mistake of opening a second bottle of wine whilst watching the rugby. Now I've got the munchies. The only nice thing in the fridge is cheese. But it's the weekend and DS and DH will want cheese tomorrow.

Oh furck it. i'm going to eat it. Cheddar or feta first, heh?

Yanbu!

Mmmm...cheese.

I love Manchego cheese from Spain. On toasted crusty bread with olive oil and a tiny bit of salt. Yum, yum, yum!

Fatmomma99 · 20/09/2015 12:54

No, I agree, Katemiddletonsothermum, Port should be poured into me!

^Any best cheese board ideas?
I'd like a Stilton type, hard cheese, soft, garlic. I love really crunchy crackers and fruit. DH likes bread and Hovis crackers.^

Y Y to this. I'd add a mild goat's as well. Maybe also a soft blue. I'd like a hard cheese (I often buy cheddar, even though I don't like it myself) and/or comte and I like the 'rubbery' ones too - gruyere, emental, jarsberg. I also like a crumbly like a wensleydale or a cheshire

Has everyone tried tradition red leicester? That's nice

Several years ago at Christmas my Sainsbury's did a white stilton (love white stilton anyway) with ginger which was amazing. They've not done it since, but I ask after wistfully every christmas.

I hope you've got a nice tasty baguette to go with that, Marmite Grin

Well, this is embarrassing. I've just made Ella's sweet potato brownies and now I realise that I'm wearing exactly the same top as her on the front cover.

Sadly this is an old pic from Mother's Day (lovely gift of the cheese!). But did have with baguette at the time.

Haggischucker · 20/09/2015 23:31

I'm such a cheese fiend, love it all. I'm veggie and cheese is a big part of diet, not always strictly vegetarian but fuck it! My best mate and I used to eat so much cheese we would get cheesy sweats and I did also have a wedding cake of cheese! Photo too identifiable to post though, had personalised wedding mice on top. I've got some melty bree in fridge and some wine on the go, lush! ??

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/09/2015 23:34

I ate squirty cheese in a can today.
Yes, just yes.

Fatmomma99 · 20/09/2015 23:41

No, just No brillo. That's wrong on soooo many levels.

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/09/2015 23:59

It was right, very right.

Fatmomma99 · 21/09/2015 00:02

You've clearly never eaten decent cheese, brillo. Come round for an evening. I will feed and enlighten you. You'll never want to eat it out of a can again!

that isn't cheese!

I'll give you cheese to equal your best orgasm ever. You won't get that from a can!

shadowfax07 · 21/09/2015 00:33

Fatmomma, can I come too please? I'll swing by Madame Fromage if you give me a list :-D

IHaveBrilloHair · 21/09/2015 00:37

Fatmomma, I can assure you I have, trust me.
I will come over and be fed more cheese though.

katemiddletonsothermum · 21/09/2015 09:52

brillo Squirty cheese in a can? What in the name of arse is that?

I've heard of squirty cream. But not cheese. Is it just the cream that has gone off and has now turned into cheese? In which case, throw it away, dear. Throw it away and head off to Neal's Yard.

I have to share...........

Feta, wrapped in foil, liberally infused doused in chilli oil with a generous sprinkle of jalepenos on the top then baked.
Oh.My.God.

Also. Anyone up in the dales must visit Hawes and go to the Creamery - the best place on Earth!

emwithme · 21/09/2015 11:23

katemiddleton our cheeses were (from the top)

White Nancy - soft goat's cheese from Shepton Mallet in Somerset (creamy and sweet with a white bloomy rind)

Berkswell - hard sheep's cheese from Berkswell in the West Midlands (sweet and nutty with a taste of caramel, often compared to manchego)

Godminster Cheddar - hard cow's cheese from Somerset

Shropshire Blue (Colston Bassett) - blue cow's cheese (aged for 10 - 12 weeks, medium to strong blue flavour, slightly tangy aroma)

Cornish Yarg - hard cow's cheese (mild with a mushroomy aroms, rich and creamy paste around the edible, nettle wrapped rind, and slightly crumbly in the centre)

Brie De Meaux - soft cow's cheese (smooth, runny texture with strong yet creamy flavour)

The tasting session where we chose them was FUCKING EXCELLENT.

I don't tend to keep cheese at home (except for Christmas, when I go slightly overboard absolutely do) because otherwise I eat it ALL THE TIME. Right now I think we've got some slices of cheddar (for DH's sandwiches) and laughing cow triangles. I may need to visit the Cheese Shop at the weekend and have a small smackerel.

katemiddletonsothermum · 21/09/2015 13:04

Oooh em thank you! I must try the Berkswell, it looks and sounds amazing.

Also, I have an opened pack of feta in the fridge so I MUST try the baked chilli recipe maxpepsi

.... For they shall inherit the Earth.

And god bless you, Sister Katemiddletonsothermum for starting this beautiful thread.

I'm away this weekend, but next, shall I get in the stuff and do what Maxpepsi is suggesting?

You're all invited, even Brillo, as long as she agrees to leave her can by the door on the way in!

katemiddletonsothermum · 24/09/2015 22:48

Ooooh, hello Fatmomma - god bless you for commenting on this thread. I'd forgotten all about it, as well as that opened packet of Feta which is still in the fridge! That's tomorrow's lunch sorted.

But.. I have one thing to add....cheesestrings are banned.

OP posts:
Fatmomma99 · 25/09/2015 00:20

If you come to mine, Kate, as I hope you will, there will be no cheese strings. (found it cos I was looking at "I'm on" and there were loads of comments I hadn't seen and I had liked this thread a LOT!

But I'm now questioning why you'd forgotten this thread, and am considering dis-inviting you, as you're clearly less cheese-tastic as I had assumed you were!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 25/09/2015 00:41

I quite like Five Counties - five cheeses in one block. Also the 'stripy cheese' tends to go down very well with little guests.

I'm waiting for my favourite Christmas cheese to be available - Wensleydale with stem ginger and apricots.

MaxPepsi · 25/09/2015 09:06

all of your cheese dreams come true

katemiddletonsothermum · 25/09/2015 11:55

fatmomma - my memory is awful these days. Someone asked me what we did last weekend and my mind drew a complete blank.....

I think it's because i'm not getting enough sleep due to weird dreams due to late night snacking on the camembert.
