I'm a bit pissed. I made the fatal mistake of opening a second bottle of wine whilst watching the rugby. Now I've got the munchies. The only nice thing in the fridge is cheese. But it's the weekend and DS and DH will want cheese tomorrow.

Oh furck it. i'm going to eat it. Cheddar or feta first, heh?

I love yarg. I love cheese. I want cheese for dinner now

Fatmomma99 · 19/09/2015 18:00

AgentZigZag Blush I got drunk on our wedding night and a bit slutty. Can you forgive me? Please say we can get past it and move on.

But what are your thoughts on an open marriage, btw? Because there's a lot of serious cheese eaters here, and I think we could all live and love in a cheese-eating hippy commune.

Someone talked about Comte (I've prob spelt it wrong!) and someone got married with Corish Yag. We could all be very happy together! There are cheese Christmas cakes, cheese wedding cakes. We'd be in cheese heaven all togther! (notice I didn't note their names, just their cheese. You're the only Agent for me!)

Fatmomma99 · 19/09/2015 18:00

God, I've spelt so many cheese names wrong on this thread. I'm going to get kicked off it in flames!

Marmitelover55 · 19/09/2015 18:02

Mmmmm I have some conte in the fridge.

What I really fancy is a cheese fondue though...

Fatmomma99 · 19/09/2015 18:03

what's your address, Marmite?

katemiddletonsothermum · 19/09/2015 18:09

Raclette.

But chocolate cheese - no. Just no.

Chocolate cheese - now there's an idea...

My dd1 hates cheese - I wonder if she is a changeling?

emwithme · 19/09/2015 19:48

Specially for katemiddleton (and everyone else who lusts for cheese): My wedding cake (with my arse popping in the side)

to eat all the cheese?
katemiddletonsothermum · 19/09/2015 19:53

emwithme - ooh, wipes eyes with hanky I do get sentimental (or is that sentemmental) over a wedding. What a lovely dress [confetti].

OK, what is the space ship thingy on the second tier? And can you run through your list of cheeses please?

That is the CLASSIEST cheeseboard I have ever seen [applauds]

marmitelover My MIL is a vegetarian and won't eat cheese. But she's not a vegan as she won't eat lentils, pulses, pasta or other "foreign" food either. I always end up cooking her quorn sausages and sprouts when she comes round.

But I digress.

My SIL decided my nephew was lactose intolerant (self-diagnosis based on a few spots change the bloody washing powder then ) so she stopped eating cheese and made my DB stop eating cheese as "support." I did the only decent thing and posted him one of those cheeses in wax to his office, along with paper plates and plastic knives).

Am texting beloved to bring cheese with him enroute home and LOTS OF it!! I knew I shouldn't have read this thread

AgentZigzag · 19/09/2015 20:30

I'm defo up for a cheese-eating hippy commune, DD1's old enough to look after DD2 now, if I stock up on rainbow drops and make sure the Sky bill's paid they won't notice I've gone.

I'd suggest setting up our own ethical organic cheese factory where the cheese could roam free unmolested, but it wouldn't be a safe environment for them.

Love your wedding cake em, your DH is one lucky man.

katemiddletonsothermum · 19/09/2015 22:04

OOh, rainbow drops - are they the ones with chocolate buttons covered in hunddreds and thousands? oh, I want to eat those now. Sod the cheese.

AgentZigzag · 19/09/2015 22:11

Rainbow drops are coloured rice krispies, I think you're thinking of jazzles?

Hmm - have none of you cheddar haters tried Montgomery? Shock (although admittedly I don't like when it's blue veined - I don't do blue cheese. Small child does though and impressed in our local cheese shop at the age of 2.5-ish by asking for a taste of Blue Shropshire (not at all stealth boast).)

Also, if you can get hold of it, it's worth getting an Ardrahan or Durrus cheese, splitting in half, shovelling in some chopped herd, baking in tinfoil in the oven till bubbling and dipping bread in.
[Wanders off to order more cheese]

MoonlightandMusic · 19/09/2015 22:31

or 'herbs' even Blush Blush - I do eat a lot, but not entire 'herds'. Blush

Fatmomma99 · 20/09/2015 00:41

cheddar is over-rated.

Hello wife Is all forgiven?

AgentZigzag · 20/09/2015 01:33

Nothing to forgive FM - so long as you don't mind Ruedi joining us.

(came across a cheese from Italy called casu marzu today. which is served with live maggots Envy 'When disturbed, the larvae can launch themselves for distances up to 15 cm (6 in). Some people clear the larvae from the cheese before consuming while others do not.' That's bad, very, very bad)

Marmitelover55 · 20/09/2015 11:09

I timber hearing about the maggots cheese before - meant to be lovely but yuck.

I like I nice baked Camembert Grin. I alas it on a few places, stick in some slithers of garlic and rosemary, then pour on a little white wine and runny honey. Bake for 20 mins and YUM.

Marmitelover55 · 20/09/2015 11:09

Marcelinewhyareyousomean · 20/09/2015 11:19

Any best cheese board ideas?
I'd like a Stilton type, hard cheese, soft, garlic. I love really crunchy crackers and fruit. DH likes bread and Hovis crackers.

katemiddletonsothermum · 20/09/2015 12:31

Cambazola, dolcelatti (god, my spelling is awful), good old brie, and some strong cheddar to go with the caramelized onion chutney, grapes, celery and nice biscuits.

never ever never pour port into the stilton.
