To think some people are going to regret some of these ridiculous tattoos.

What is it with tattoos lately. They're just getting ridiculous and some of them look plain stupid. Rita Ora has some just under her armpits, the part of the arm that gets dangly as you age. Just what is the point, they don't look good at all. I don't think they define you as a person (as lots of them say) at all. How does it. Confused

Unless you can see the future, which I highly doubt, you have no idea if you will regret them or not.

DoJo · 14/09/2015 11:31

Lou from tattoo fixers for example, her whole neck and chest, imagine if your child had done that to herself? I would cry my eyes out.

If my child was comfortable in their own skin, an accomplished artist and successful enough to have a hugely popular TV show about their work, then I think crying my eyes out about my personal preferences for the way they looked would be very shallow and sad.

Lemony That is lovely. My Mum loves my tattoos but she is tattooed herself anyway.

OP you are right that the 'ridiculous' tattoos may be regretted by their wearers
but discreet, meaningful tattoos will not be regretted.
my particular hangup with tattoos is that it reminds me of the holocaust and the tattooed number on the arms of Jewish people and I would never get one myself. My choice.
I don't even like the fact my dog has a tattoo inside his ear done by the breeder - so far he has not told me he regrets it as he is unable to see it. Grin

DriverSurpriseMe · 14/09/2015 14:14

Shit tattoos are shit. Tweety Pie IS cheap and tacky.

Then there are artists like this, who are just in a different league:

To think some people are going to regret some of these ridiculous tattoos.

When you're young and your skin has that lovely youthful radiance (which we all know doesn't last for long) why on earth would you want to cover it in ink. It just seems crazy. I don't see how it can enhance your looks in any way. It also doesn't say anything about you as a person., or make you edgy or individual. It's just ink.Confused

OP posts:
PenelopeClearwater · 14/09/2015 14:25

If it is just ink why are you so bothered by what other people are doing?

riverwalk · 14/09/2015 14:32

What makes you think I'm so bothered. I just said I thought people would regret a lot of them because they look a bit daft. It's just an opinion, or are we all supposed to like everything. I don't lose sleep over it, we're having a discussion, which is what we do on here?

OP posts:
PenelopeClearwater · 14/09/2015 14:42

Starting a thread about it makes it look like you are bothered. I don't like those plugs that stretch holes in your ears. But other people do, I don't go starting threads saying it's crazy.

mollie123 · 14/09/2015 14:45

this is interesting in the light of overall acceptance of tattooing as mainstream and it reinforces my dislike of them (for myself) because of the concentration camp/holocaust connection.

Tattooing is against Jewish law. There are many reasons, including the fact that the Torah wants us to distance ourselves from practices that were emblematic and highly significant religiously in the ancient pagan world. In addition, some rabbis recently highlighted that Jews were tattooed against their will by the Nazis, which should compel us to avoid willingly being tattooed.

riverwalk · 14/09/2015 14:50

Well if we all had that attitude Penelope there'd be no AIBU. You don't have to be dead bothered about something to start a thread, it was something that occurred to me at the moment. But even if I was dead bothered, so what. It's allowed isn't it.You seem overly bothered about my thread, doesn't bother me though.

I think some of the 3D Tattoos are works of art but wouldn't feel the need to have them on for life, the piercing I feel will be more of a regret IMO, the scars that will be left, I have enough Acne scars to be going on with.

I might start a 'people without tattoos are fucking weird' thread.

And I really am going to hide this thread of small minded morons and go plan more tattoos!!

riverwalk · 14/09/2015 16:02

Downstairs but you're bothered enough to come on this thread to be goady. That's what I call weird. Also weird to call me weird because I started a thread about something that had occurred to me . Ffs what do you think people start threads for, it's usually about similar type things. Do yourself a favour and don't bother, then you won't have to mix with "weird" people.

OP posts:
riverwalk · 14/09/2015 16:07

Who said people with tattoos are weird? Try reading the posts properly. Why did you come on in the first place, and if you think you can base a decision on whether someone's small minded because of a lack of tattoos you really are naive.

OP posts:
riverwalk · 14/09/2015 16:10

Btw the smallest minded moron I've ever met is my daughters ex who has never paid a penny in maintenence but is covered in tattoos. Who is the moron?

OP posts:
kali110 · 14/09/2015 16:12

I've worked in banking and i have a lot of visible tattoos.
They didn't give a shit.
I wasn't the only one.

Has your daughter used the availible gov services to obtain a cm assesment?

If not perhaps she is

PenelopeClearwater · 14/09/2015 16:20

I never said people without tattoos were small minded morons. People that judge tattooed people are. As you said it's just ink.

So why start a thread where yet again people have a dig at tattooed people?

riverwalk · 14/09/2015 16:20

It's you that's judgy, judging me, but making personal attacks on someone having an opinion is far far worse. You must find it hard on mumsnet though. There are a hell of a lot of judgy ones on here. If there wasn't anyone starting threads similar to mine you wouldn't have much to go on would you. Anyway, it interested you enough to click it on didn't it.

OP posts:
riverwalk · 14/09/2015 16:21

Yes it's just ink, so why bother then.
