To be really annoyed by Dianne Abbott s voice

Not sure why, it really grates on me and think we will be hearing a lot more now her close friend is the labour leader.

OP posts:
catfordbetty · 12/09/2015 11:09

Totally understandable reaction.

NationMcKinley · 12/09/2015 11:14

YANBU. Funnily enough I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. Her voice is a dreadful mix between sanctimonious and patronising.

ginghamcricketbox · 12/09/2015 11:14

Not so much her voice as such more the shite that comes out of her mouth.

DollyTwat · 12/09/2015 11:21

I agree. It's that breathless way she talks and have to try to understand what she's saying. Well you don't have to obviously. Gets on my nerves as well!

wasonthelist · 12/09/2015 11:44

More concerned about her hypocrisy, but agree about her affected voice.

ImperialBlether · 12/09/2015 11:49

I agree with sanctimonious and patronising.

TenForward82 · 12/09/2015 12:09

This is discrimination against Dianne Abbott, it's racist and she'll be really offended when she comes and looks at this thread (cos she will!)

I am of course joking, but some people on here actually think that way ...

Behooven · 12/09/2015 12:11

YANBU, and I hate what she says as much as how she says it and all the affected hand motions. She is useless on that Andrew Neil politics show too.

Sunshineandsilverbirch · 12/09/2015 12:14

She probably wouldn't like yours much either OP.

TenForward82 · 12/09/2015 12:17

She probably wouldn't like yours much either OP.

FGS. Dianne Abbott is perfectly entitled to her opinion about the OP's voice, assuming (unlikely) she ever has the occasion to hear it Hmm, but for all you know OP could have the voice of a motherfucking angel.

Find something worth defending.

SilverBirchWithout · 12/09/2015 12:21

Diane Abott's voice is less irritating than the spelling of her name on this thread Smile

It still astonishes me that in the 21st century how people still focus on the appearance and other vacuous aspects of female politicians mannerisms rather than what they do and say.

ilovesooty · 12/09/2015 12:23

It irritates me that people criticise politicians of either gender for their voice, appearance etc.

UnGoogleable · 12/09/2015 12:24

I don't think you can turn this into a misogynistic thing, to be fair, quite a few of our male politicians have received plenty of flack about their appearance and voices too.

I think you're slightly missing the Lighthearted point of the thread!

Becles · 12/09/2015 12:28

Seriously? This is the worst thing you can find about a long term female politician? Not specific political decisions or alliances, her voice. Next stop will be an evaluation of her dress sense and make up.Hmm

and I did put a Smile as well!

scarlets · 12/09/2015 12:57

She forgot that she was a socialist when she chose a school for her child. That's kinda irritating.

Her voice is quite nice I think.

UnGoogleable · 12/09/2015 13:02

By that logic, are we all to ignore Donald Trump's ridiculous hair, because we need to criticise everything else about him in order of importance before we get to the frivolous?

llhj · 12/09/2015 13:06

Well her specific political decisions are hypocritical and deeply damaging to the Labour Party. I think she is a racist actually with her comments about the special nature of black parenting, specifically claiming they are superior to white mothering.

Fontella · 12/09/2015 13:15

Not me, but someone I know who had to interact with her on a regular basis told me she is the biggest pain in the arse ever encountered. To say my friend was/is not a fan would be a massive understatement.

Obviously this is 2nd hand, but I do give credence to it, because this particular person is one who never usually has a bad word to say about anyone. In fact Diane Abbott is, as far as I can recall, the only time I've ever heard them diss anyone.

BikeRunSki · 12/09/2015 13:16

Diane Abbott lost all credibility with me when I read an interview with her, in which she said that her best investment was her son's private education.

AyeAmarok · 12/09/2015 13:20

YANBU at all, and WTF is going on with her hair?

"Myyyyy constituents in Hackney".

Can't stand here.

AyeAmarok · 12/09/2015 13:20

Her*

Asleeponasunbeam · 12/09/2015 13:22

Her 'Dead Ringers' character is hilarious though!

TittyBiskwits · 12/09/2015 14:31

llhj I agree. Didn't she also make a remark about Swedish nurses (because all Swedes are white Hmm ) not being able to relate to black patients? And there was also the 'white people love to play divide and rule' tweet.

She's awful. And I agree that her tone of voice is sanctimonious and patronising.

derxa · 12/09/2015 14:35

I like her. I enjoy her on Andrew Neil's programme. So there.
