To find the smell of fag smoke yuck

Im stood behind a very pleasant man in the queue in a cafe. But the awful smell of stale cigarette smoke from him actually made me feel sick. I've never been a smoker and I know a lot of smokers who don't smell. So what is it that makes some smokers stink? Honestly it was awful. Yuck!

I'm an ex smoker, haven't smoked in over 2 years. I hate the smell of smoke now, never noticed it when I smoked. I guess the smokers who stink are heavy smokers, who don't wash their clothes very often and who smoke in enclosed spaces?

Some smokers radiate the smell of fags from every pore and fibre.

Some smokers smell (almost) as fragrant as a summer meadow.

I think you need to be a dedicated indoor chain smoker to achieve pore and fibre status.

My mum smokes and has that horrible cheesy/smoke breath sometimes - not sure what causes it. But she's my Mum and I love her even though I don't smoke. Smokers need love too.

Lots of people have no idea I'm a smoker but..
I always cover up (coat etc...)
I always smoke outside
I don't smoke much
I always wash my hands afterwards
I always have a mint afterwards

I have no doubt I don't smell of flowers and fluffy bunnies some of the time.

No, not a smokers bashing thread. Just an observation that some smokers stink whilst others you'd never know smoke, and I wonder why. It was so strong! Yes I agree it must be from a chain smoker who smokes indoors.

I'm pregnant and an ex smoker (9 years) and right now I looooove the smell of fags. I have been known to walk quickly behind a smoking person just to get that lovely whiff. Weird and gross I know....

I won't let smokers touch my things if I can help it. They always leave them stinking of stale smoke. Nothing ruins a nice thing quicker than stinking of fags.

I guess there are people who smoke in their homes and cars and there are people who only smoke outside. The first group are going to smell worse than the second.

maybebabybee Been too long since your last fag, mate? I believe I said I think not I demand, plus not being able to use a ticket machine doesn't have long term affects on your health and the health of people around you, and doesn't rely on the NHS bailing you out once you've fucked up your body.

So maybe chill TF out before jumping all over people for expressing their relevant opinion on a relevant thread? You want to go start a thread about ticket machines, maybe get some of the tension out?

Sorry, smokers, you do stink. My colleaque smokes, on the way into work, walking, on windy days, and still brings a cloud of foulness in with her. Just because you're desensitised to it, folks, doesn't mean it ain't happening.

ten I don't smoke and never have, but please carry on assuming that anyone defending smokers must be a smoker!

I just think it's totally pointless starting a thread about something that's been done to death 6,000,000 times over on MN.

A friend when she stopped smoking asked in a horrified voice if she used to smell of smoke like some people. We told her yes.

All but very occasional smokers smell of smoke.

If you think it's pointless, give it a wide berth. Some of us are newer than others so don't have the lofty honour of being long-time hardened veterans of MN, so haven't seen it discussed 6,000,000 times before.

I'm not denying smoking is bad for you and you shouldn't smoke. Not once have I said that.

It will be a long time before smoking is banned, it's a tax cash cow for the government.
