Hospital or???

Daughter has come home like this. She says she has double vision. What should I be doing? AIBU to think A&E? I don't just run there for every little thing, in fact she's 14 and has never been, but I'm not quite sure what to do.

Hospital or???

Your poor DD Flowers

I agree get her seen and make sure you get a copy of the medical report and any diagnosis they give.

Present this at school tomorrow and ask what they did to deal with the situation immediately and what they are going to do from here on in.

They won't give specific details of punishments but you should know how they will prevent your a dad being injured again. I'd also go to the police. The school may be against this as they prefer to deal with things 'in house' but this is assault with injury.

I'd be asking school why they didn't take her to A&E.

A&E and the police, definitely.

I wonder if a&e will call the police/do some sort of referral.

Hospital! I'm quite relaxed about most injuries but you don't mess around with eyes.

Poor girl.

I hope she's ok. Definitely report this to the police.

If you enlarge the picture it looks like a chunk has been taken out. Was he wearing a ring?!

Nasty bastards, I'd certainly report to the police.

The slight black eye and double vision mean I'd definitely go to A&E. If you're in Manchester Manchester Eye Hospital has an A&E and is linked with MRI too.

A&E and report to school and police!! Poor girl looks like she'll have a shiner tomorrow. Flowers

Definitely A&E - I've rung the vet before about my cat and as soon as I mentioned it was his eye they made me bring him in same day. Eyes can be serious.
I hope your daughter's OK.

Poor girl, yes A and E and straight away and ring the Police!

Make sure you get an incident number, take the names of anyone that see's your daughter at the hospital and what department they are,nurse/Dr ect,it's really helpful for the Police and let the Police deal with the school.

DH is a police officer and I promise you that assaults like this on young children are taking seriously by them.

Oh op I'm really angry for ur daughter! Threads like this really strike a cord.
Really hope u havnt updated as u took her down a&e, hope she's ok the poor love.
Also I'm never dramatic but honestly call the police - as pp have said its assault and the school will do shit all. Best ull get is a rise in the harassment after this dicks got a detention or two. Call the police and report it, then go in and cause a stink at the school! Its not either or - the police will likely caution him and the school can implement their bullying policies as well. I'm sure ur do, but its so important to show Ur DD that no one can treat her like that and uve got her back

Oh your poor dd, I would be absolutely spitting feathers if this happened to my child.

I'm glad you've gone, but I echo what others have said, call the police. Kick up a fuss at school and keep dd off until it's been dealt with if necessary. I'm just so angry for you both, I do hope she is okay Flowers

Omg that looks torn poor love, hospital and then police as I bet the school are just going to hand out a detention! You need to get into the school to discuss thier anti bulling policy tomorrow. I hope her eye is better soon

Glad to hear you went to A&E - the double vision is worrying. I'm generally a 'wait and see' person but totally agree that eye injuries can be nasty and best treated asap. Far better to be cautious. I'm so sorry this happened to her though. Bullying really upsets me. I agree with PP about contacting the police as well as the school tomorrow.

School should have taken her to a&e imo. Hope she is.ok. Also yes to police if this was a bullying incident, especially ifits not the first.

I'm not sure I'd want to hear about the school's response to this as 'bullying'. This is assault pure and simple. I agree with a previous poster, I want to know why school didn't take her to A&E as well as knowing why they haven't (I assume) called the police. Or did she not tell anybody?

I am the least likely person to over-react to things like this but, as a teacher and a parent, I would say get to A&E or Urgent Care straightaway (although I see you've already said you're going). Also, make an appointment to see either her Head of Year or someone in Senior Management first thing tomorrow morning. Ask them how they intend to guarantee your dd's safety from now on?

Hope the news from hospital is good.

Hope your DD will be ok and you don't have to wait too long at A+E.

In your position I would be furious if the school had not contacted me immediately, and also that they had not sent her straight to A+E themselves.

I am a teacher, and if a child arrived at my lesson looking like this I would be calling for first aider urgently and asking them to contact parents straight away. It's not worth risking it where eyes are concerned.

I have to say, i would also call police and report as an assult. That will ensure the culprit is dealt with properly, as I would not have faith that the school will do anything meaningful. This should be a fixed term exclusion at the very least.

As well as contacting the police, I'd also contact the HT and request their version of events in writing (ie whether they were aware of the injury, what treatment they gave, why they didn't take her to A&E). I'd pass that on in an official complaint to Ofsted about the school's failure to meet basic health and safety/safeguarding duties.

I'd probably also be contacting a solicitor about making a case against the school for some form of negligence, even if only to make the HT shit themselves.

And I would make it my mission to make the little shit who did it take himself off to an early grave, such would be the miserable wreck of a life I'd leave him with.

I am a very vengeful person.

Hope your DD isn't seriously hurt and that you arent kept waiting too long at A&E.
