To refuse to let DH have the car when he said he'd walk?

So I've booked my car in for a full service and MOT next week as DH said I could use his car as he wanted to walk to work next week.
Yesterday however he twisted his ankle chasing an old woman out of the garden and now wants to use his car. His work is a 15 minute walk away. Mine would take me an hour on bus and I dread to think how long it would take to walk it. AIBU to tell him we arranged for me to have the car and we're sticking to it?

How does the old lady know you've booked your car in to come in your garden so be can chase her?

Trills · 31/08/2015 14:06

Thrusting WHAT at the windows?

I still want to know why he normally drives a distance that is a 15 minute walk. By the time you've parked, wouldn't it take longer?

APlaceOnTheCouch · 31/08/2015 14:07

Yeah, making him hobble to work. That will teach him not to chase old grannies Grin

PeppaWellington · 31/08/2015 14:07

X posts (stupid ancient computer)

So the old lady was thrusting at the windows? What, like Elvis?

Gymbunny1204 · 31/08/2015 14:09

He hurts himself every time you book your car in? Hmm

How can he drive SAFELY with an injured ankle?

NobodyLivesHere · 31/08/2015 14:11

So the old lady was thrusting at the windows? What, like Elvis?

i'm crying with laughter....im sorry OP i cant even begin to think about your AIBU after that!

Spilose · 31/08/2015 14:12

I think Yabu to make him walk. For the sake of one week I'd ask him to drop you off and pick you up. Could he get the bus instead?

PaulAnkaTheDog · 31/08/2015 14:13

So every time your car is arranged for a service he gets an old lady to let her dog shit in your garden, so he can run after her, fall and sprain his ankle and stop you from using his car? That's so much effort!

SurlyCue · 31/08/2015 14:14

This thread is brilliant. Grin

Aqualady · 31/08/2015 14:19

I can just imagine next door rubber necking through the window " bloody hell Sandra there is a right kerfuffle goin on in next doors garden"... Grin

Finola1step · 31/08/2015 14:20

Thrusting.
Chasing old ladies.
Old lady refusing to clear up dog poo.
Old lady swearing.
Husband falling in dog shit.
Car argument.

This thread has got great potential. Maybe the OP would like to tell us more about the other incidents involving car MOTs.

Oh and it is one day. I would think if he is too sore to walk, he shouldn't be driving (unless its an automatic).

TheSilveryPussycat · 31/08/2015 14:21

Agree that he shouldn't walk on it, and is unlikely to be able to drive safely.

In the olden days, people would take a day off sick to allow full recovery...

RandomSocks · 31/08/2015 14:24

So every time you book your car in, your DH chases an old lady from the garden so as to injure himself? Did I get this right?

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 31/08/2015 14:29

I'm intrigued what's happened other times the cars booked in for MOT?
Sorry I shouldn't be laughing here!
Hope it gets sorted.

PeppaWellington · 31/08/2015 14:31

Can't he just skid to work on some dog poo? It sounds like his forte.

Meanwhile, every time you book your car in for an MOT and a service, your dh has some comedy-disaster meaning you can't borrow his car?

I would be booking my car in monthly, purely to see dh have a hilarious injury.

Whatabout · 31/08/2015 14:33

Was she demonstrating what she meant by "go fuck yours elf" with the thrusting?

Spartans · 31/08/2015 14:34

Yabu...but I am howling at the story.

i very much doubt he damages his ankle when chasing an old woman everytime you book the car in.

CheddarGorgeous · 31/08/2015 14:37

Just reschedule your car service.

ghostyslovesheep · 31/08/2015 14:40

was the old lady doing the timewarp?

Hissy · 31/08/2015 14:41

Could you move the service and MOT to the following week?

StackladysMorphicResonator · 31/08/2015 14:43

If he can't walk he certainly shouldn't be driving, very dangerous and irresponsible - what if he needed to perform an emergency stop or accelerate suddenly?

But anyway, please elaborate on the old lady, the previous incidents, and any other fuckwittedness he has shown.

CheesecakeDreams · 31/08/2015 14:43

I want to know what happened last time your car had an MOT.

beardsrock · 31/08/2015 14:44

Howling at ghostyslovesheep's comment

Timewarp lol

Gruntfuttock · 31/08/2015 14:45

An old lady thrusting at the windows is one of the funniest things I've ever read! I can hardly see to type through the tears. Grin
