Is it just where i live that this happens? In need of everything?

I know its a FB one, I know I know..
But they have sites locally where people give things away like freckle, great. And occasionally people ask if theres something specific they're in need of i.e "My hoover's just bust, is anybody getting rid of one". And I know there are lots of genuinely needy situations out there that this kind of generosity really comes to fruition with like people coming out of hostels or being thrown out of home ect.
But where I live there seems to be posts up almost every day along these lines. And this is a direct quote.
"Hi all, my brother in law is in need of everything as he has just got his first flat". These seem to be on there every day. Im more just astounded that people have the cheek.

BoffinMum I gave a travel system at Christmas but it was to a home for homeless young mothers who'd not long given birth. I was actually directed there by the people I normally give it to who help women from refuges. They said they didn't need it because if women leave with an infant normally the pram is one of the few things they take. Which makes sense.

My house is furnished by peoples generosity. Its actually pretty mortifying having to beg for furniture, so im surprised that people who dont need to do it at all, but i do know of cheeky fuckers who do just that Confused

As long as they take away my stuff I don't care.

If people are rude then tell them so. (unless you've already given them your address, maybe!)

Maybe there are also some people who feel they've been treated like they are owe someone their eternal gratitude and cap doffing because they took possession of a moth-eaten bag of stained clothes or pram with two wheels and the smell of rotting carcass.

I've only ever given something away on freecycle and it was a satisfactory exchange.
