I know I was a little bit U but surely in these circs I'm a bit allowed?

I went to Home Bargains earlier, it's quite a small car park and I'm pretty sure the spaces are slightly closer together than average spaces
I'm 30 weeks pregnant and I physically can not get in and out of my car if there's a car parked next to me anymore, my bump is just too big, so I parked over the white line meaning I had room to get in and out
A woman getting out of her car near me said "do you know you're over 2 spaces?" I told her I did and explained why, in a kind of laughing at myself way. She didn't say anything in response but as she was walking away I heard her say to her friend "I fucking hate people like that, selfish cow"
I was Shock
So I know I was a bit unreasonable but it's surely understandable? And this reaction was a bit harsh wasn't it?
Also what do others do to get in and out of cars when heavily pregnant? Surely there's a solution that I'm missing

God, people are sanctimonious about parking spaces on here! Rather than park on the line so she can get out of the car, she should shop elsewhere? Really?
Pregnancy is not a disability, but accessibility should be for everyone, not just everyone who's not pregnant! YANBU.

MyLovelyFriend2015 · 27/08/2015 18:13

She parked 'over the line' and took up 2 spaces

lunar1 · 27/08/2015 18:17

You can't take two spaces because you are pregnant. How many will you need when you have a baby?

SilverBirchWithout · 27/08/2015 18:19

Perhaps you need a smaller car which would give you more side space to get out?

I have an injured knee and currently need a stick, but I wouldn't do this. I drive around until I find a space that works for me.

Scotinoz · 27/08/2015 18:21

Yes, you were selfish but I might have considered doing the same Flowers Bloody nightmare being enormous and struggling to fit in and out of the car. And parking in roads/online shopping/etc etc isn't always practical.

I nearly did it in a grocery store car park yesterday actually. Parent&child spots are no wider than normal ones (and have a column), no end spots etc. Its near impossible to get a toddler & a baby in a capsule out of the car in a regular parking spot. 20 laps later I finally got an end space...

There's always someone parked like a twerp, so it might as well be someone like us (who has a reason)!

Lurkedforever1 · 27/08/2015 18:23

30 weeks isn't exactly huge unless it's multiples so Yabu. Plenty of people have a stomach that size when not pregnant, and if they all parked over 2 spaces we'd all be moaning at not finding spaces cos selfish gits had hogged 2. As bread and someone else said, I've squeezed a small car in before when it's been the last space meaning the other drivers door is inaccessible.

MedSchoolRat · 27/08/2015 18:23

She should not have been rude to you even if she disliked how you parked. Plus how you parked had zero impact on her. She's a right cow & YANBU.

NobodyLivesHere · 27/08/2015 18:39

some people are huge at 30 weeks though lurked i've seen people with bigger bumps at 16 weeks than i had at 35.

NotMeNotYouNotAnyone · 27/08/2015 18:41

Ywbu, they weren't.

WorraLiberty · 27/08/2015 18:48

This thread has got me wondering how morbidly obese people manage every day?

It must be tough for them (not something I'd ever thought about till now).

beardsrock · 27/08/2015 18:48

Jesus OP, I cant believe the answers you are getting on here.

The woman was a total bitch, did she not see that you were 30 weeks!

Who cares, two spaces. Tut.

YANBU.

Lurkedforever1 · 27/08/2015 18:49

I don't disagree nobody but there are plenty of non pregnant people with stomachs that size who manage in one space.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 27/08/2015 18:51

What about fat people? Are they allowed to park over the white line, take up two spaces? I see plenty of non pregnant people who are fatter than women at 9 months pregnant?

G1veMeStrength · 27/08/2015 18:52

your behaviour was selfish, inconsiderate and thoroughly lazy.

What a load of crap.

OP YANBU.

Waltermittythesequel · 27/08/2015 18:53

This is my absolute pet peeve so I would have been fuming with you.

You're being U and ridiculous.

BlueBananas · 27/08/2015 18:54

Worra I did wonder that today myself, but then I suppose fat people can squish and squeeze can't they, I can't squeeze a rock hard belly
And lurked you have no idea what shape or size I am, what a ridiculous comment

OP posts:
BlueBananas · 27/08/2015 18:59

Oh and just to repeat a point from my OP - the spaces in this car park are a bit closer to ether than average, I haven't have this problem in regular parking spaces elsewhere

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 27/08/2015 19:01

See if I were you, I'd be worried that someone would just park next to you anyway and then you've be well and truly fucked, because it doesn't sound as though you'd be able use the passenger side and climb over the handbrake Grin

BlueBananas · 27/08/2015 19:07

I didn't even consider that someone might worra thank God there were no other knobhead parkers about ey Grin

OP posts:
Lurkedforever1 · 27/08/2015 19:27

Why ridiculous? I went from your description of 30 weeks pregnant, and imagined the largest bump I'd seen at that stage that wasn't twins, and still couldn't see why it made you so large you need two spaces.

BlueBananas · 27/08/2015 19:32

Erm because not every bump is the same lurked?
You obviously haven't seen them all so you can't really comment on how big mine is, if I could've got in my car without making a spectacle of myself do you not think I would have?

OP posts:
ihatethecold · 27/08/2015 19:34

There are some miserable fuckers on this thread.
Who gives a monkeys that an obviously pregnant woman parks over a white line?

featherandblack · 27/08/2015 19:36

I've never heard of anyone having to do this and don't really believe it is the case. Wait until you're having to get a car seat out of the car and into a buggy and there are no parent and child spaces available. (Would parent and child spaces be an option? The child is technically present...).

Waltermittythesequel · 27/08/2015 19:39

Unless your stomach is the size of an actual blimp, I'm finding it hard to believe you couldn't have parked properly.

As I said, I get probably irrationally pissed off by this and can be a bit of a cunt so might have parked really close to you.

Lurkedforever1 · 27/08/2015 19:40

Exactly which is why I thought of the largest I've seen, which was abnormally large. Nor do I think you made a spectacle of yourself, I just think its a bit crappy because if everyone did it there'd be no spaces anywhere.
