Oh how they grow... Sniff sniff, today was the day when DS has rejected CBeebies in favour of those cool and funky 'grown up' programs on CBBC.

I thought I'd get misty eyed when he starts Yr1 next week, but oh no, he can't even wait 7 days to grow up.

Waaahhhh! I love Cbeebies and it's soothing trippiness and gentle surreal ness.

I hate CBBC and it's high energy double meaning slap stick reality. Waaaahhhh.

Sorry I may be overly nostalgic [needs to apply starch to upper lip emoticon]

I miss it so much!

I had a wee cry once when I read a cbeebies thread on here and realised I didn't know who was being discussed. :(

MiscellaneousAssortment · 26/08/2015 22:45

Oh god, that will be me soon. Waaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

DD didn't know that there were other kids channels apart from cbeebies until she was about 4,the last year has been a downward slide to tiny pop and other hideousness. I wish she watched more cbbc instead it's bloody power rangers and my little pony crap. I love it when she asks to watch peppa or Ben and holly.

I think she still wants stompeez slippers I 'forgot' to buy for her birthday

Jo4040 · 26/08/2015 22:59

Ooo you have to have some Ben and Holly now and again. Brightens up my day! Sometimes when there is nothing on and kids are out I have a flick thru to catch up with Nanny Plum.

Grin
DisappointedOne · 26/08/2015 23:02

What's the deal with Nanny Plum? Have never seen it. People keep telling me I'm just like her. Blush

5BlueHydrangea · 26/08/2015 23:05

Hank Zipzer is a barmy teenager, well maybe 11/12 ish. Gets up to all sorts of daft things. Mildly amusing actually. It is the main 'older child' thing she likes. Although we do like a bit of 'Casualty!!' So maybe I'm a bit more liberal than some..

5BlueHydrangea · 26/08/2015 23:05

I'm like Nanny Plum too! Watch it, she's cool.

onecurrantbun1 · 26/08/2015 23:10

I like Peppa and B&H.

Bloody hate Disney Junior. Sofia the First is rubbish and why oh why are there only 2 or 3 episodes?!

A friend's LG got Puppy Surprise (from the continuous aderts) The surprise is it's totally shite £25 for a cuddly toy.

Runwayqueen · 26/08/2015 23:11

Feeling your pain op! Dd is starting yr1 in two weeks and is rejecting CBeebies Sad in favour of Disney jr, oh how I loathe itAngry

Jo4040 · 26/08/2015 23:12

Disappointedone... Your name says it all really Grin

Ham69 · 26/08/2015 23:12

My DS (8) went off cbeebies years ago and constantly made fun of DD (6) for watching it. This summer hols they've been sitting together watching The Twirlywoos and singing the theme tune, laughing and jumping around. Brought tears to my eyes! They were killing each other shortly afterwards but I'm going to keep the lovely happy image of them snuggled up watching Cbeebies together forever Smile

weegiemum · 26/08/2015 23:15

Where did cbbc go in my house?

It's all Big Bang Theory and netflix in my teenage home!

(Not really)

NormHonal · 26/08/2015 23:21

OP, there is a solution.

Have another baby.

Although, you should be forewarned that due to DC1's disdain for CBeebies, DC2 will move away from such "babyish" TV at a far more rapid rate seriously DC2 hasn't even feeling started school yet and is tiring of Beebies.

On a more serious note, wasn't it the case in some BBC review that CBeebies got accused of nicking CBBC viewers and hanging onto them past the age of 6/7, over-reaching their remit, a bit like Radio 1, hence they started doing the intro segments suggesting older viewers turned over to Arthur etc on CBBC, having Hacker and Dodge do bits on CBeebies, and also having CBeebies presenters on Blue Peter on CBBC from time to time? And Katie Morag on both channels now.

I also feel like the CBeebies programmes have gone a bit more "babyish" with stuff like Duggee, Bing, etc.

Dare I admit it, I'm growing to love CBBC, although the teenage drama series have yet to convince me - The Next Step, I'm looking at you.

NormHonal · 26/08/2015 23:23

Disney Junior has gone properly rubbish recently. Too many repeats and too much princessy twaddle.

DisappointedOne · 26/08/2015 23:23

I don't care when DD decides not to watch CBeebies anymore. we have all the progs I like from there recorded

MyNameIsAlexDrake · 26/08/2015 23:27

I actually find Gigglebiz funny. I'm 40.

My son knows of no other kids channel than Cbeebies. Long may that last (he's 3). Though I do like the sound of Horrible Histories.

Jo4040 · 26/08/2015 23:29

"Paw Patrol,Paw Patrol, be there on the double, whenever there's a problem, Round Adventure way'

I'm going to bed now with that stuck in my head...

DisappointedOne · 26/08/2015 23:31

I love GIgglebiz too. And Raa Raa. And Abney and Teal. And Swashbuckle. And Twirlywoos.

We only really watch the Welsh versions of Bing, Sara a Cwac and Peter Rabbit.

You can keep ITNG, Wooly and Tig etc. they suck. Grin

IndomitabIe · 26/08/2015 23:33

I've actually blocked all other 'kidz' channels on the sky box (or I had on the old one. Must do the same on the new one). It's CBeebies only here. DS is starting reception next week. Sounds like we've got a year from what you're all saying.

I flipping love Gigglebiz. Reminds me of the fast show! And have a bit of a fondness for Twirlywoos and Wussywat (love the borderline sarcastic narrator).

I'm not ready for cbbc. It's not going to be Andi in the broom cupboard, is it.

Purpletoes · 26/08/2015 23:35

My 3 year old alternates between Nick jr and CBeebies. Favouring Nick jr but He really loves twirlywoos
And Mr Bloom.

On nick it's blaze and the monster machines, paw patrol and wallykazam.

Now going to bed with theme tune from Blaze going aroudmy head! Smile

DeccaMitford · 26/08/2015 23:35

Ahem, Norm, Hey Duggee is in no way babyish it's one of DH's favourite programmes

Jo4040 · 26/08/2015 23:36

What about MA MA MA MA Me me more Milkshake?! Top quality TV to wake up to that. Stacy Solomon blaring out the theme tune for Pip ahoy! First thing in the morning. Also love abit of Noddy...what a childhood classic...

GiddyOnZackHunt · 26/08/2015 23:42

My 8 yr old has cottoned on to BBC4! And this thread has made me aware that the going into Reception one hasn't wanted CBeebies for a while now. Scooby Doo and Ninja Turtles are the flavour of the month :(

Inkymess · 26/08/2015 23:52

Yep my soon to be yr1 is glued to cbbc and CITV. Never much bothered with TV before...

Beth2511 · 27/08/2015 00:02

7 YO DSD is obsessed with icarly/victorius/the same 5 characters 3 different shows crap. Wouldnt mind but its the same 30 episodes repeated over and over and over and over again. ARGH
