To be terrified that anyone in the US would even consider Donald Trump as President

As far as I can see, he was born into a weathly family, became more weathly through a combination of accident and arrogance (whist nearly going bust at least once). I know the US has a proud tradition of idiotic presidents, but really?

He is a scary prospect isn't he? I keep thinking that he's a bit of a novelty and no-one in their right mind would actually vote for him for President - but stranger things have happened.
Every time I look at him I think how can he have such joke hair with all that money?!

YeOldeTrout · 26/08/2015 12:57

omg, Trump is wonderful entertainment. Subscribe to 'Being Liberal' on FB if you want delightful updates on the Republican presidential hopefuls. Jeb Bush is managing to keep a low profile on BL wall posts, which is probably to his credit.

Squooshed · 26/08/2015 13:01

I must say I'm finding the whole thing hugely entertaining.

Osolea · 26/08/2015 13:02

I don't think his wealth is relevant, I think he'd be a twat whether he was born into poverty or wealth.

But yes, it is quite scary that there is a chance he could become one of the worlds most powerful people.

Fatmomma99 · 26/08/2015 13:03

London voted for Boris

coffeeisnectar · 26/08/2015 13:03

Imagine him as president and Boris Johnson as PM.

It would be like a stupid hair convention every time they got together. Scary prospect.

Shows money cannot buy common sense.

emotionsecho · 26/08/2015 13:06

It's entertaining and deeply worrying at the same time, especially when he makes Jeb Bush look reasonable and sensible. Donald Trump is straight out of the 'if there's a problem find someone to blame for it' school of thinking.

BarbarianMum · 26/08/2015 13:06

YABU. They've had Regan and George W - what could possibly go wrong?

Jurysout2 · 26/08/2015 13:07

People born into wealthy families aren't allowed to become President? why?

Aside from that, he's a very good businessman, asked if he thought being President was like running a business, he said 'yes'. His ideas aren't actually all that crazy.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 26/08/2015 13:07

It is a very scary thought.

Squooshed · 26/08/2015 13:10

I think he'd be excellent at international diplomacy.

gamerchick · 26/08/2015 13:10

He reminds me of Devils that take human form in films. I don't think he could handle it tbh, he looks like he
Would be happy to thump cameramen the way he shoves them out of the way now.

Floggingmolly · 26/08/2015 13:14

Why wouldn't they? They voted in George Bush... and he's not a man at all, he's a fecking chimpanzee

Squooshed · 26/08/2015 13:15

It's refreshing that he's not afraid to refer to women who irritate him as 'bimbos'.

More sexism please!

'London voted for Boris'

Very good point. I remember laughing my head off when the idea of Boris running for London Mayor was first floated. I certainly haven't been laughing for the last 8 years (I'm a Londoner) Hmm

Never underestimate people's stupidity I guess

5Foot5 · 26/08/2015 13:18

London voted for Boris
Yes but Boris is only pretending to be a buffoon.

lavenderhoney · 26/08/2015 13:19

Well, whoever comes after him will have their work cut out won't they?

I can't believe he's serious. Or anyone around him is serious about it. Who is he up against? I expect they'll be a shoo in - anyone else would seem like a good idea after him.

I can imagine people giggling and thinking about putting a whoopee cushion under his chair at the inauguration of president trump.

Squooshed · 26/08/2015 13:22

The man is named after a fart.

blaeberry · 26/08/2015 13:28

If you look at how he has behaved in Scotland over his golf course then yes Donald as president is a very scary prospect.

Wearyheadedlady · 26/08/2015 13:30

I don't think anyone here truly takes the man seriously (I'm in the US right now). He's more of a side show.

At least I sincerely hope this is the case!

HackerFucker22 · 26/08/2015 13:32

Wait until Boris is running for Prime Minister!! If he wins I'm emigrating!!

Squooshed · 26/08/2015 13:35

This baby knows the truth. His mother...................umm, not so much.

To be terrified that anyone in the US would even consider Donald Trump as President
Bakeoffcake · 26/08/2015 13:52

It is scary. It reminds me, on a much bigger scale of the support for Nigel Farage. Every time they say something outrageous it seems to make their support go up.Hmm

wasonthelist · 26/08/2015 14:01

he's a very good businessman
That's a laugh - he is a pillock who has suceeded by a mixture of inherited wealth, luck, extreme arrogance (ref scotish golf course) and very dubious behaviour. As for suggesting the Whitehouse is like a business -what utter bollocks. He's come very close to total bankruptcy more than once - does he plan to run the US like that? Given his vicious treatment of anyone who dares disagree with him, I dread to imagine what foreign wars he'd be starting.
