The ultra tanned, hair extension, excess make up look. It seems that where i live if you dont have this look you are almost looked down upon! Its expensive and alot of effort and i think im quite attractive the way i am! Rant over Shock

Yanbu. Although it's not a look any of my social circle go for. Hate the dodgy joke shop moustache eyebrows most of all, even the prettiest girls look like Neanderthal does towie in them.
I'm liking the messy hair styles though, they should stay. Only because messy is something my hair does naturally well though.

BerylStreep · 21/08/2015 23:01

? Can anyone explain what a duck face looks like? Even better, post a photo?

Flottila · 21/08/2015 23:03

I'm loving all the NIMBYs on here.

CuffsAndCollar · 21/08/2015 23:05

I feel like I'm getting old because I really, really do not get duck face at all. as in, it looks so fucking ridiculous why would anyone do it.

Another for further clarification.
It's the 'Oh So Serious' face that usually goes with it that cracks me up though. As if people haven't ever watched Zoolander or heard of Blue Steel and noticed it was a comedy Grin

Oh tell where you live! I am wagering Newcastle or Liverpool....I am from Liverpool and spent a weekend there recently, fake tan standard, rollers in hair in the street during the day, totally dolled up by night. I didn't mind it tho, each to their own. And having spent my uni years in Newcastle, reckon that could be likely too.

SouthWestmom · 21/08/2015 23:15

Why isn't it a photo? Annoyed, was very good example.

nocakes · 21/08/2015 23:19

It is! I can see it clearly by clicking on the link. Scary lips

Faye12345 · 21/08/2015 23:19

Yeah Liverpool!

It's the eyebrows that get me. They really do look ridiculous and sometimes scary. Give it 10 years and everyone will look back on photos of themselves with 'HD brows' and recoil in horror.

Rhine · 21/08/2015 23:25

The first thing I thought when saw the title of this thread was Liverpool. It could only be couldnt it? The women dress up to the nines to go to for a pint of milk there.

BerylStreep · 21/08/2015 23:28

Thank you for the clarification.

Duck faces are proper scary.

Hamiltoes · 21/08/2015 23:29

I'm 50/50 on the eyebrows, I think if done well they can look great but its definitely something I'd leave out if in a rush.

I look back at pictures of myself as a teen with dyed dark brown hair and recoil in horror thinking where the F are my eyebrows!!

Also the white face flash photos. I think the contour craze may have stemmed a bit from this- when I was in high school 10 years ago and started with makeup (maybe aged 13?) NONE of us knew anything about blusher, or anything other than foundation and lots of matte light powder. Made us all look like a sickly shade of chalk. Perhaps this generation is rebelling with fake tan, and 59 different shades of contoured cheeks?! Blush

TheRealAmyLee · 21/08/2015 23:30

I detest it as well. Also near Liverpool. Sharpied eyebrows, rollers in hair, fake tan baths, hell we still have trousers tucked into socks and tracksuits as fashion...

I am ashamed of us tbh. I blame Coleen Rooney as well.

tomatodizzymum · 21/08/2015 23:33

That duck face is hillarious! I've never seen anyone pulling that face and I work with teens, and all my friends on facebook are old like me.

FindoGask · 21/08/2015 23:36

I also often wonder about poker straight hair. Just been watching Kim Basinger in Batman rock her totally blunt cut long shaggy mane and thinking what a shame that you don't see hair being like that any more.

ginnybag · 21/08/2015 23:37

Oh God, please let it die. It's all over Manchester too.

In fact, it's even got to the 30-something professional women. I'm currently exposed on a daily basis to a former schoolmate.... works for a radio station, brilliantly talented, clever and naturally very pretty, and every single photo of her on Facebook for the last year has been tanto-Orange, over contoured, overdone eyebrows and liner and the bloody 'quarter turn and pout' duck face.

Whoever said 'drag queen' nailed it.... except I know one or two who would be insisting I add the word 'bad' in front of the title! Grin

RiverTam · 21/08/2015 23:37

I'm in inner SE London and I never see this look. I didn't realise it was still a 'thing'!

Offler · 21/08/2015 23:45

Duck face has been around for years, even the Romans did it... Grin

nocakes · 21/08/2015 23:50

Loving the fact that I spotted the town!! How can they be bothered to spend the time?? It was hilarious that the women were all dressed up, fake tanned and straightened to within an inch of their lives just to go shopping (or had rollers in) altho as I say it doesn't bother me if that's what they want to do.
