To miss smoking a little bit

Used to smoke before getting pregnant with DD1, after she stopped bf I enjoyed the occasional drunk cigarette or the odd one when feeling stressed, never in the house or around her. As much as I know it reeks and is an awful habit, every now and then I really bloody miss smoking, especially nights like tonight because before kids I used to smoke more at night time and when I couldn't sleep. I know IABU but I'm not the only one to miss it a little bit right?!

I miss it too! Gave up 8 yrs ago never touched one since but I especially miss it on holiday sitting in the sunshine, and on my early morning drive to work. I even dream about smoking - it's lovely!! I often think I would like to have just one at night after putting the kids to bed but I won't because I know it would be a slippery slope!!

I quit when pregnant with DC1 at 9 weeks (5 days after i found out) and had a cigarette an hour after he was born (I was 16 and had quite an emotionally traumatic labor, he was born not breathing and i thought he was gone it was the most heart wrenching thing ever) i then continued on and off when i could afford it (Single mum to DS and then a partner with a low wage meant that was rare) money picked up quite a bit and then i fell pregnant with dc2 and stopped again cold turkey. she was born nearly 17 months ago and i still smoke occasionally now (never around the kids though). with stressful events recently I've been smoking more than usual, 15 or so a day. every morning when i wake up my lungs hurt, i suffer from shortness of breath too. i've always had weak lungs (much to my shame i was overweight as a child and asthmatic and i've never been that fit!) wish i could stop.

YANBU. I quit 8 years ago and still miss it especially in the summer. Coffee and a cigarette in the morning is just the best Grin Discopanda you're absolutely right- its a nice escape, a moment of calm with time to think ect.

Love it and miss it. Quit in 2010, started again in 2013 and quit just a few weeks ago when I found out I was pg. Nothing like those five minutes to yourself, especially in the middle of a cold frosty night shift where the moon is full and the ward is hot, chaotic and busy. Or you have twenty for dinner and you can slip outside for a breather with a glass of wine whilst something bubbles on the stove.

However, I won't start again now after this baby. But I have decided that I can start again at 75!
