To leave bedding on for two weeks?

Not riveting this topic, I know!

I've been unwell recently, still not great but a bit better. I'm a SAHM and care for my ds who is 14 with autism and OCD. It can be exhausting.

Obviously, as I'm not working, I do all household jobs/gardening/errand running etc and DH is often away. This weekend, I though f**k it! I'm NOT changing the beds (I usually do all beds on a Sunday). My question is: do you strip and change your beds weekly? Also towels... We each have bath sheets which get changed twice weekly. My niece recently stayed and went through 4 bath sheets in 2 days. We shower morning and evening (though ds just showers and hair wash each morning).

*Oh do fuck of dear

Right back at ya!*

Its ok dear we've noticed you.

Whathaveilost · 17/08/2015 16:44

Bedding gets done on Sunday and Wednesday ( our school)
Ds1 does his twice a week
DS does his once a week
Towels get done a ridiculous amount of times that I'm not going to post!

Eliza22 · 17/08/2015 16:44

DS has clean pj's each night and clean clothing throughout the day (thanks to the OCD) so I'm endlessly washing. Grin

It takes about 90 seconds to load a washing machine, so there is no excuse to be honest.

I need a bullshit button.

It takes me a half day to do our beds. Sometimes there ARE reasons why people can't do things, and even if there isn't. Who cares. It's their house, their choice.

BleachEverything · 17/08/2015 16:50

I need a bullshit button.

How long does it take you to load a basket full of clothes into a washing machine?

LunchpackOfNotreDame · 17/08/2015 16:50

Some time. On a account of being physically disabled and all.

ThereIsIron · 17/08/2015 16:52

Beds at most fortnightly. Towels as required. We'd use shower/bath towels probably 3 times max.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 17/08/2015 16:53

Bedding once a week, twice in the summer. Towels every other day.

BleachEverything · 17/08/2015 16:53

Some time. On a account of being physically disabled and all.

Come on now, of course if someone is impaired it's going to take them longer. Don't be silly now.

LunchpackOfNotreDame · 17/08/2015 16:54

But let me take you back to your previous post.

No excuse you said

Binit · 17/08/2015 16:58

Depends. Everyone here gets into bed clean and kids wear shortie pjs. So their beds aren't dirty at all. Can't remember when last changed. 3+ weeks ago?

Goshthatsspicy · 17/08/2015 16:58

I'm not being thick, I'm reading your posts as you've written them.

You said no excuses.

howabout · 17/08/2015 17:01

Takes me 2 minutes to put load in machine. Takes the machine 3 hours to launder it and another 90 minutes to dry it. Then I air it and iron it. Pre DC we went to the laundrette and graduated to an apartment block with a laundry room. We now have 3 DC and a washer / dryer with no outside drying space.

The only time my bedding was done weekly was when I was a live in waitress in an hotel. For years now hotels I stay in have been telling me about the virtues of saving water and energy and not unnecessarily washing towels.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 17/08/2015 17:02

Bed linen - fortnightly.
Towels usually have a couple of uses.
It takes three minutes to load a machine.
Half an hour to strip the beds, another to make them.
Assuming the weather is good I can dry them outside, but if not then I've got to hang them somewhere indoors and I'm not going to do that more than once a fortnight.
Another half an hour to iron the buggers.
And I don't have any physical difficulties that would make it harder.
I also have to do one or two loads of other laundry a day to keep up.
Why do you need to change them more than weekly?

cardibach · 17/08/2015 17:02

How do you excessive washers feel about this?

BleachEverything · 17/08/2015 17:03

You are being thick. Surely you must know they are exceptions to the general consensus or maybe you don't.... In that case it's too late in the day

cardibach · 17/08/2015 17:04

You need to play the video!

liquidrevolution · 17/08/2015 17:05

Fortnightly for both bedlinen and towels. I change the towels when I clean the bathroom as I use them to mop up water splashes.

We don't have a dryer or the space to hang up sheets every week in nasty weather (can be dried outside in summer). Obviously guest stuff gets cleaned after guests depart.

We are on economy 11 we can only put a wash on when we go to bed or its very expensive (exception if we are ill). I would rather have clean clothes to be honest...

DeputySlattern · 17/08/2015 17:06

Every 4 weeks in this house, after I have my period. My mother did the same and I had no idea it was longer than normal until I joined Mumsnet.

I have no idea what other people are doing in their beds that requires such frequent changing Wink.

Why don't i do it more frequently ? - I don't think they need it, I hate ironing quilt covers and lastly -probably most importantly-- I can't be bothered.

meglet · 17/08/2015 17:07

binit same here. showers and clean pj's almost every night for me (lp) and usually the kids. bed linen is fine for 3 weeks.
