To miss the days when people were just 'thirsty'?!

What's all this shit with, 'hydrating'? It's called drinking fucking water!

Whenever I hear someone claiming to be 'dehydrated', I want to reach for my revolver. No, dear, you're not dehydrated, you're just thirsty. It won't hurt you to wait twenty minutes for a drink.

Advanced capitalism, combined with nanny-statism seems to have fostered a nation of adult-babies who can't got five minutes without a snack, needing a piss, or a plastic bottle to suck on. It truly does my head in.

I can't remember the last time I sat through a film or a play without multiple audience members nipping out at least once during the show. Yes, I do appreciate that SOME people suffer incontinence, or might have needed a shot of insulin but, come on, not on this scale!

I suggest you visit HR tomorrow and tell them of the aggression you're suffering under the water drinkers.

HR where I work are already grumbling about the passive aggressive aspect of this issue, and I think you find a lot of HR departments are.

treaclesoda · 16/08/2015 19:46

How does it spread germs exactly? If someone is drinking water from their own bottle then they'll only be sharing their germs with themselves.

noeffingidea · 16/08/2015 19:46

Charis, what the fuck are you on about?
I was joking, because your posts are really really silly.
Drinking out of a water bottle isn't being 'passive aggresive' at all. It's just 'having a drink of water'. If you can't see that then perhaps you need help.

CoteDAzur · 16/08/2015 19:46

" the advertisers have done such a good job on pure water, haven't they. So many people automatically and unquestioningly assume it is wholesome, natural and good for you"

Obviously, since drinking water was unheard of before bottled water advertising took off Hmm

SquirrelledAway · 16/08/2015 19:48

Nope, I wouldn't use "purity" when describing water quality, it is meaningless.

On the other hand, all those bottled water companies you are so fond of are only to happy to use "purity" to describe their products.

I think you've been brainwashed by the evil sucky bottled drinks business.

damn unicorns with their discrimination against non-virginsAngry

The court cases!!!

I'm just kind of in awe that this thread has made it to 800+ posts. Will we need to start a second thread?! Grin

Also, the thirst = dehydration (albeit mild) thing makes perfect sense to me. The body doesn't have these magic advance warning systems. When you feel pain, you are already hurt. When you feel the need to urinate, there is already liquid in your bladder.

noeffingidea · 16/08/2015 19:54

Is tap water 'pure water' ? I've just drank a nice glassful. Oops, better be careful. Don't want to overdose on it.

Charis1 · 16/08/2015 19:55

i can't be bothered to carry on repeating myself, it is a very dirty habit, I've explained some of the reasons why up thread, and there is a huge difference between pure water and natural water, drinking tap water from a cup and drinking bottled water, and I've said all this already and can't be bothered to say it again.

The sucky sucky adult baby habit of suckling water from a bottle all day is a horrible habit, which annoys, and imposes on others, and is unhealthy, germy, messy environmentally damaging, causes litter, causes noise and inconvenience, loss of productivity and is all based on gobbledegook voodoo science, frequently passive aggressive, causing entitlement and psychological addiction, etc etc, as I am others on here have explained, and I hope this dirty fad is nearing it's end. I would guess so, these media induced fantasies have a limited life span mostly.

Meanwhile, you all just go on enjoying your constant infantile indulgence is oral stimulation all day everyday.

the best that can be said of it is that it is better than chain smoking.

ProvisionallyAnxious · 16/08/2015 19:55

Correction: they are magic advance warning systems in that you are warned of dehydration / the need to urinate before the need becomes critical.

nicestrongtea · 16/08/2015 19:55

Do you actually know what PA means Charis

It means saying or doing one thing (sometimes in a sarcastic/arsey manner ) while really meaning another and usually expecting others to know you are meaning the other thing etc

Do you really think they want to kick your head but drink water in a PA instead ?Grin
Mind you if you behave like this in RL...

ProvisionallyAnxious · 16/08/2015 19:56

Grin Hmm

Charis1 · 16/08/2015 19:58

you are right to be careful, obviously a couple of glasses won't harm you, but yes, an overdose would cause serious illness or kill you.

The volumes that are recommended sometimes are unsafe.

some people seem to genuinely believe you can't overdose.

Charis1 · 16/08/2015 20:00

Nope, I wouldn't use "purity" when describing water quality, it is meaningless.
obviously it is not meaningless. Water can be pure, very rarely in nature, but manmade it can.

nicestrongtea · 16/08/2015 20:02

Dare I ask what you think of chewing gum *Charis?Grin

ProvisionallyAnxious · 16/08/2015 20:02

Charis, the reason why people are doubtful r.e. your overdose claims is because they seem to happen far, far more rarely than the symptoms of mold dehydration, which about half the people on this thread have reported experiencing.

I'm not saying an overdose is impossible, but I doubt most of us sucklers are at risk of it from our 1.5 litres or whatever.

ProvisionallyAnxious · 16/08/2015 20:02

*mild dehydration

Charis1 · 16/08/2015 20:04

chewing gum doesn't cause anything like the issues that suckling at bottles all day does,

Charis1 · 16/08/2015 20:05

dehydration, which about half the people on this thread have reported experiencing. largely in their imaginations.......

StarlingMurmuration · 16/08/2015 20:08

I can't believe I'm joining in, but I believe that Charis1 is referring to "secondary drowning", which is, as I understand it, when someone inhales even a very small amount of water and seems to be fine, but then dies up to 72 hours later. This is actually because the water irritates the lungs and causes pulmonary oedema, leading to decreased function and insufficient oxygen absorption and circulation, not "water in the blood". Basically you drown in your own body fluids.

Not sure why drinking water is dirty or unhygienic or reduces productivity. Never has the oft-used "Are you on glue?" been more apt than on this thread.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 16/08/2015 20:08

better than chain smoking
PMSL Grin Grin
oops
is that ok?

noeffingidea · 16/08/2015 20:08

Charis is talking shite again.
Overdosing on water is rare , usually associated with drug use, competitive eaters, 'waterloading' eg. on the biggest loser to manipulate weigh ins, or medical/ psychiatric conditions.
Drinking 2ls a day, over a day, is perfectly safe for a person with functional kidneys.

ProvisionallyAnxious · 16/08/2015 20:09

largely in their imaginations.......

How can you claim to know this?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 16/08/2015 20:12

It's in the invisibly footnotes Prov
do keep up! Grin

goodasitgets · 16/08/2015 20:18

I'm drinking out a bottle because our tap water has crypto in Grin does that count?!
But I'll keep drinking at work because I need to keep my throat lubricated for the 100/150 calls take a day
