on the way home from work, turning into the street before mine, police with blue lights on but no siren's up head on the the road on was turning from, i turn and suspect they are on there way to an accident on the busy A road not far away, but no they turn into the same street i'm already on, still with lights on and no siren's, they over take me and the car in front and then turn their lights off, pull over at an angle, jump out and put cuffs on a man(he was a beefy well built guy as well) that was just on the street!!
wish i knew someone that lived in those flats to see if i could find out what was going on!!

It's always like that on here these day though Mutt.
Posters outdo each other trying to be not bothered and blasé about everything.
Only to piss their pants on a thread that's genuinely about nothing.

OP I'd be mildly curious too. I live in sw London and stuff is always going on but it's nice to know what.

StealthPolarBear · 06/08/2015 20:42

Is that you cleaner-feom-work-who-shall-remain-anonymous?
Why was the helicopter out yesterday over lp?
I'll be shocked if it is you btw!!

Merguez · 06/08/2015 20:48

MrsJorahMormont · 06/08/2015 21:06

Ignore all the arses OP. I would be hanging out the window goggling if this happened in my street. Quiet life here Grin

Vatersay · 06/08/2015 21:08

Now Jorah everyone was being very polite right up until 'arses'.

usualsuspect333 · 06/08/2015 21:10

A police car just went past my house with sirens blaring, me and DP were straight at the window to see where it went Grin

Am I the only one reading the OP's posts in a really really fast, out of breath way? Grin

Goldmandra · 06/08/2015 21:18

Are you one of those idiots who posts on FB when they see an ambulance or police car asking if anyone knows what is going on?

I always ask although not on FB. We live in a village so the, thankfully rare, presence of the emergency services often means something horrible has happened to someone we know.

When I had to call an ambulance to our house recently, our next door neighbours came round to see if they could help in any way. I was very grateful.

WitchofScots · 06/08/2015 21:19

I'm Shock about all the stuff going on where you live, big change from the small crime stuff that goes on here.

Why is this in AIBU? What might you be being reasonable or unreasonable about?

AllTheFluffyAnimals · 06/08/2015 21:25

My bus stop got raided once! I was minding my own business and two teenage lads were standing at the other end rolling a spliff. A police car parked up in front of tge stop and sat there doing nowt for ages. All of a sudden, two more cars and a van came screeching to a halt, police jumped out and slammed the teenagers on the bonnet like in a film. It was all very exciting.

whois · 06/08/2015 21:49

Excited by blue lights? You should spend an evening in our living room! Blue light central in central london.

BlackeyedSusan · 06/08/2015 22:45

we once had a couple of police cars, two fire engines an ambulance and a paramedic car all turn up at our block... took the children to play in the garden... not going to let them in the block if another flat is on fire...

police broke down the door to find someone had left a pan on the stove... imagine how much all that cost all for too much alcohol.

fourtothedozen · 06/08/2015 22:52

Is London really like this?

I must live a sheltered life. I rarely see a police car except on traffic duty.

I'm glad I don't live in London if things like this are so common.

I do not live in london, (but it is inner cityish, mixed private rents, owned flats and tower blocks with a few small houses thrown in)

fourtothedozen · 06/08/2015 22:58

I feel lost on a night if I don't hear sirens or a chopper

And that's a good thing? Sounds like a war zone.

So you're concerned troubles will start after one incident? I live in a v quiet village where this happens maybe, like, never? But instill wouldn't get excited over it. Calm down op.

shouldnthavesaid · 06/08/2015 23:23

I live next to a police and fire station, below a major helicopter route to the rigs and work in a hospital with a regional trauma centre. Wanna swap?

cleanindahouse · 06/08/2015 23:58

The police were at my door yesterday looking for witnesses to an "altercation" outdide my building. I saw nothing. I did want to say "ooooooooooh what happened" but you don't, do you.

vicarinatutu · 07/08/2015 00:05

it will be nothing to get excited over - seriously.

i drive blue lights daily. if you only knew the shit we blue light to that turns into precisely fuck all youd laugh.

dont give it a second thought.

Salmotrutta · 07/08/2015 00:08

The most excitement I ever had was living in an even more boring rural location to our present one - our next door neighbour did a moonlight flit after conning various people and the CID came round and quizzed us about his movements.
They turned up a few times to see if he had been back and it was all very thrilling.

It was the most excitement the area had seen in decades - I say "area" because it was a clutch of houses in the middle of nowhere which didn't even merit the accolade of "village"
