on the way home from work, turning into the street before mine, police with blue lights on but no siren's up head on the the road on was turning from, i turn and suspect they are on there way to an accident on the busy A road not far away, but no they turn into the same street i'm already on, still with lights on and no siren's, they over take me and the car in front and then turn their lights off, pull over at an angle, jump out and put cuffs on a man(he was a beefy well built guy as well) that was just on the street!!
wish i knew someone that lived in those flats to see if i could find out what was going on!!

You must live a very sheltered life OP to a. Get excited about this and b. To post on MN about it

goinggrey1978 · 06/08/2015 19:57

well i live in the south east, 2 streets away (where the beefy guy was arrested) where there are lots of blocks of flats and maisonettes, they used burn cars out there nearly everyday and police there most of the time, about 15 years ago, no-one wanted to live there, since the cctv camera's on all the blocks and no burnt out cars, so there hasn't been any trouble there for a long
i do hope that there's nothing nasty in the local papers next week, as its been very quiet round there since the cctv and i'm guessing the council had moved the people causing all the trouble

id want to know too, but I'm very nosey!

WitchofScots · 06/08/2015 19:58

OP, I'm glad I don't live in E20...

QuestioningStuff · 06/08/2015 19:59

I wish I lived somewhere where this would be exciting. But then again I'm glad I haven't grown up to be someone who relishes in other people's drama an wants to gossip about it.

goinggrey1978 · 06/08/2015 19:59

no was more worried that the troubles were going to be starting again, when its been so quiet round there for nearly 15 years!

Crumpet1 · 06/08/2015 20:02

I'd be nosey too.

Smellyoulateralligator · 06/08/2015 20:05

Goinggrey, it sounds like you do want something nasty in the local paper!

I saw a house opposite mine get stormed by police in riot gear yesterday..they battered the door down and shouted POLICE and all that.

Wouldn't occur to me to try and find out why. Nothing to do with me.

SurlyCue · 06/08/2015 20:12

Yeaaah. Course you were.

LemonPied · 06/08/2015 20:15

I'm currently sat on on a dual carriageway behind 3 ambulances, Yorkshire air ambulance helicopter and loads of police cars.
It's terrifying how fragile life can be.

Vatersay · 06/08/2015 20:18

'interested' is one thing. Posting a thread on MN with lots of exclamation marks is something entirely different.

Notasinglefuckwasgiven · 06/08/2015 20:21

Nosey cab be good sometimes. Lived too many rough places where nobody sees anything that helps catch the shits ruining everyone else's lives, despite all curtain twitching and being able to gossip about it Grin

Notasinglefuckwasgiven · 06/08/2015 20:22

*can be good. My phone is so fucked today it's not real Angry

Well to be fair to the OP, there was a thread on here about some sort of local siege and that poster got completely different replies. Funny place is MN.

I'd want to know what had gone on too, OP.

VulcanWoman · 06/08/2015 20:29

We have the Police helicopters now and again. Also live near a fire station too, so have them speeding along our main road, living at a road junction means with had 3 traffic accidents as well.

JeanneDeMontbaston · 06/08/2015 20:35

I live somewhere fairly quiet, but we had police with blue lights today - I came in past someone's teenager in tears because he'd been punched in the head by a drunk bloke. He's been doing building work for my neighbour and he must be about 16/7 and just out of GCSEs.

Not really quite so exciting and interesting, is it?

I live outside durham and the road through our village has a handful of cars an hour on it. Never mind police cars. When we see the police helicopter I know the cleaner at work will be able to tell me about it (she knows everyone and everything)

only put exclamation marks as i was surprised to see them and yes i really hope that its nothing that will make the local paper, as its a great place to live and i do know my neighbour's and trust them, i've been here for nearly 11 years and was very lucky to get this place from the council and we all look after each other, last year someone reversed into my neighbour's front door, the police took ages to arrive, the driver didn't get out of the car, all he said was he was trying to do a 3 point turn and it went wrong, lots of neighbour's came out as it was a very loud bang and we were all very worried for our elderly neighbour, when the police arrived it turned out that it wasn't even the driver's car but we never heard what happened with him but the police took him away, we were all very worried about our neighbour, one called her son for her and another made her a cup of tea

JeanneDeMontbaston · 06/08/2015 20:40

mutt, it's not, it's just making the point that the OP is being a bit thoughtless because every time you see police and blue lights, chances are something nasty has happened to someone. It's like coming on here to say you've been rubbernecking at at accident on the motorway.
