One minute it's in the litter box and the next it's on the kitchen table. Urgh.

But surprises me how many people I know who think it's fine.

Is it just me?

Rats are ace. Very intelligent, very clean, very trainable (more trainable than my fecking cats).

Fancy mice are cute too. But don't believe the pet shop when they tell you they're three males Hmm Fun fact: mice can mate within 12 hours of giving birth. We went from three mice to 23 in about six weeks.

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2015 22:19

I don't like the thought of small furries in cages.

PageNotFound404 · 03/08/2015 22:20

Grin LittleLion. Very true, me too! They'd be a damned sight more tolerable if I could stick them in a run in the garden out of the way too!

makingmiracles · 03/08/2015 22:22

gross. and it is possible to teach them not to if you have them from young. had my 7yr old since 15wks and used water spray for the first few months, he soon got the message that jumping up on worktops gets you soaked. you will never see my cat on the worktops as he knows hes not allowed!

LittleLionMansMummy · 03/08/2015 22:23

Hmmm... I've heard good things about rats. The only thing I worry about is finding someone willing to look after them when we go on holiday. That and bubonic plague.

prettybird · 03/08/2015 22:24

I have to take back the statement that the female doesn't go onto tables..... Blush

(the 2nd picture is just to show off the pair of them Wink)

My friend was always getting a dicky tummy whilst lodging in a house where the cat had free reign. Once she moved out all was good again Smile

sparkysparkysparky · 03/08/2015 22:43

Here's a crazy idea. You might want to try it whether you have cats or not. Clean your surfaces before you prepare food and eat at the table.

Happfeet2911 · 03/08/2015 22:43

Cats do as they please, just wipe it if you are that bothered!

eaiand2 · 03/08/2015 22:58

I don't dislike cats, but being allergic to them I've never been close to them or owned them, but I don't let my dog on the counter, I don't put shoes on the counter, I wouldn't want a cat on the counter, either.

And as for office cats... How would you feel working somewhere that had an animal that made you physically miserable and forced you to spend a small fortune on antihistamines and tissues? Work was MADE for health and safety BS and risk assessments for everything under the sun, but not the goddamn cat!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/08/2015 23:04

A very good friend used to have the litter box ON the work top complete with 5 or 6 massive cat poos half buried.

I could make myself sick if I think about it too hardEnvy Grin

Bettercallsaul1 · 03/08/2015 23:18

I think we all could, Dame! Grin

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/08/2015 23:20

SorryBlush it was the only cat in the world who didn't make any attempt whatsoever to bury it either.

Urgh!

BettyCatKitten · 03/08/2015 23:23

Gorgeous cats pretty Smile

DadfromUncle · 03/08/2015 23:25

It would be interesting to do a venn diagram of stuff like people who panic about the aerosol effect of flushing the toilet, find loo brushes gross etc and the intersection of homes where cats swan about worktops and tables. Well it would to me Smile

Lurkedforever1 · 03/08/2015 23:26

For all I do wipe the surfaces it's only for the thought of it, not because I think I'd catch anything. Animals are great for the immune system. Dd would have ended up with chapped hands and no time to play once she got mobile if I'd washed them every time she touched an animal.

DadfromUncle · 03/08/2015 23:28

was the only cat in the world who didn't make any attempt whatsoever to bury it either Sadly not.

HoneyDragon · 03/08/2015 23:55

I'm fortunate ..... I never get cats on my food preparation surfaces. Can't think why.

I actually don't like dogs very much, so this one is for me.

RosePetels · 04/08/2015 01:46

I had this old school friend when I went to her house her big ginger fluffy cat was walking on the kitchen table swishing around and his furr was flying into an open pot on the stove. I was thinking ew im never eating here.
I have a cat and she's allowed anywhere besides the kitchen table tops

BettyCatKitten · 04/08/2015 02:10

HoneyDragon
I love dog posts
Had a good laugh Grin

SilverNightFairy · 04/08/2015 03:02

My cats can walk where they please. I'm more disgusted by people who do not wash their hands after using the loo.

nemo81 · 04/08/2015 06:03

I don't like the thought of animals on worktops, tables or in beds. Grim.
